DVD drive not reading DVD's

I have a Samsung 8x DVD - 50x CD drive...
Worked great before I reformatted, It still reads regular CD's fine, just when u have a DVD in, it doesn't even know it's in there.
I'm using PowerDVD ver:3.0 and 98se
Anyone have any ideas to what it could be? I need some kind of DVD region prog?

try disabling the detection of the drive in bios, sounds stange but it might work.

Try completely uninstalling PowerDVD, and then do a reinstall. Sounds to be a software problem.
