Currently I have a gigabyte GA-8I945PL-G, with an Intel 805 oced to 3.3Ghz.

Can I upgrade just the hardware to a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3, with an Allendale E4500, and ghosting my IDE drive to a SATA, and boot as normal?

Or will I get an inaccessible boot device failure message?

Will the 945 chipset drivers work on a 965 board?

I'm running RAID 1, but thats easy to reconfigure, if this transfer works...

the southbridge on the boards will not jive with tring to do what you want. cause you need drivers installed in XP for the ich8, other wise you will get a BSOD or the boot device failure.

Whenever you change motherboards and especially when you change chipsets, it's best to reformat and do a clean Windows install. "Sometime" you can get away with a Windows repair, but you run the risk of problems.
