Guys Ed and Joe were kind enough to put my Radeon article on the Front page today,

If you have an OEM Radeon 8500 and have 3.6ns memory and you check your Vmem (read article) and it turns out to be running 3.50volts then The bios flash may be for you.

Pinky was kind enough to allow me to post the Bios Flash on his FTP server full of utilities (http://www.aoafiles.com)

Direct link to the Flash file, when you see Pinky thank him for hosting it :) (http://www.aoafiles.com/dafiles/Video_Card_Files/ATI_Video_Cards/ATI_Overclocking_Programs/FlashRadeon8500.zip )

Personally I havent Flashed my card yet as I dont mind running Powerstrip to get 300/300

I hope you enjoyed that article as many of you made that information regarding the OEM/Retail enigma possible by contributing to the Bios database found HERE (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51887)

FlashRadeon8500.zip
The complete flashpackage for your Radeon 8500 OEM/LE and Retail cards. Inclosed alle BIOS versions in RETAIL, OEM, PAL and NTSC. Please use the loader for starting, type just in plain DOS:"start.exe". The menu does the rest and makes backup of your BIOS, verify BIOSses and flash the correct one, by just selecting the proper one! Many thanks to John Hoek, for making this possible! The program was created with the pflashrom from ATi Technologie's. All copyrights belong to them. The program was not edited, a launcher was added.

-credit to Exclamation Download for the file

More information regarding how to can be found here (http://www.home.zonnet.nl/Hoek89/)

 Happy Holidays to you all

I can't decide whatever I should flash or not. I think I could be able to hit at least 290MHz with the extra voltage.... I'm running 284MHz now...

Nice article Sam ;)

Thanks Walter, appreciate the kind words,

I strongly suggest that you dont try the Flash utility as 4ns Ram shouldnt be run at the Flash settings, if you decide to go for it anyway, say a prayer and face West towards the overclocking Gods and be sure to make a back up of your current video card bios.

PS, Vovan

How am I supposed to know what they are saying at
http://www.radeon.ru/

My Russian reading skills never developted :)

Im pretty sure this says Never mod a Radeon after drinking 4 bottles of Stoli

Мы занимаемся оптимизацией драйверов для видеоадаптеров Radeon, составляя сборные драйверы из файлов тех версий, на которых достигается лучшая производительность в своем

Ok, well I asked this question at Rage3d too, and they are also suggesting that I don't flash, so I think I'll drop it or at least wait. 284Mhz isn't bad either.... Now I just need to get a better cooler on the core, because it's only hitting 270MHz stable. I wish I could get a Alpha like your's Sam, but I can't buy them here in Denmark....

You only have to moderate the entire classifieds, it can't be that tough

and if there is only one then there will soon be 2 lol :p CYA!!
