Just moved into new house and got WoW cable internet. Advertised speeds are 6000 kbs down and 1000 kbs upload. The ping is extremely high, on speed tests the min. is 1347ms and max is 1700ms. WoW people have come over three times and finally said that it is the router that is the problem. We have a belkinF5D7230-4 Wireless G router, I know it is crap, but I do not think that it could be all of our problems. I ordered a PowerConnect 2708, 8 Port GbE Web-managed Switch-R Dell router and it should be here Monday. Any suggestions to get it to work before then? I updated the firmware for the belkin but nothing worked...

Basically...They said the router sucks and the new one should fix anything, I think they are full of BS.

I guess if you can't wait until then you could hook directly into the cable modem. Only problem being that you'd only have 1 internet connection (Though you could use your PC as a router and plug the belkin into the second Ethernet port). That should be fun to setup :) (Or you could just be patient and wait until Monday )

I am just not convinced that the router will fix everything...

Try connecting directly to the cable modem and see how things are that way. That should show you if it's the router or not.
