Any idea what interface? Good deal either way.
Edit: Checked on WD website, looks like USB.
I just came back from Staples with one of these. If you're planning on getting one, you may have to ask someone who works there if they have them in the back. They didn't have any of these on display, and it didn't even look like they carried them (I couldn't see a tag for one anywhere on the shelves), but then I asked someone working in "EasyTech", and he said they keep them locked in the back. Kind of weird that they would keep something on sale like that in the back, I wonder why . Anyway, good deal.

I was in Staples earlier today looking at laptops for one of my elem. school age kids and with a laptop purchase you get 20% off 3 "accessories".
Normally the external drive would not qualify, but the manager let me have it so I got mine for $95, less 20% disc of $19 = $76, less the $45 rebate so the net will be $31, plus the $5 or so in FL sales tax for a final price of $36.
Darn difficult to beat 400GB of storage for $36. The only possible snag in this whole deal is that these are "Element" branded, but "powered by WD". Is this by any chance a "value line" of Western Digital? I haven't checked yet, but I don't think that they carry the same warranty...the manager stated it was one year only, but then he made it sound like all externals were one year only.
Has anyone checked out the warranty yet (yes, I know that I should have before I bought it, but for $36, it was just too hard to pass on :) )?
By the way, the store I visited also had it in the back with none displayed...I had to also show the circular and ask them if they had it in stock. Thought that was odd.
Edit:
Found this at Fatwallet (WD extended warranty):
http://websupport.wdc.com/store/extwarranty/index.asp?lang=en
Edit #2:
Seems that these drives may be "out of region" per many of the posts at fatwallet. WD is claiming that they are not under warranty because they are not for sale in the USA. Might want to use caution here.

"New item on the menu...a Gator National Championship sandwich. Spread a thick layer of NCAA Football Championship between two slices of NCAA Basketball Tournament Trophies and serve with a side bowl of crushed Buckeyes! So good that it makes you want to go back for seconds."

They're kept in the back because they're not a regularly stocked, on-the-shelf item. They're for promotional events only. At least in my store they are, but we have them on a "Advertised Items" table, with security wraps. I figured most stores would do that too with them being in such high demand.
