I have ordered a crystal orb for my gf2ultra. It has pretty bad stock cooling. I will also replace the ram heatspreader plates with TT ramsinks. Would the crystal orb help? I overclock a lot. I am trying to push my card a little more. Right now the speed is 280/501 and the original was 260/460 or some thing like that

help!
The crystal orb will help yes.
Although to get its maximum potential you should lap it so you get a smooth surface since some orbs have very bad surfaces and you end up slacking on like lots of thermal grease. You know how it goes the more you put the less effective it is right?
The crystal orb and the blue orb in my opinion seem to be one of the best GPU coolers avaliable on the market.

I've heard that the nickel plated bottom is veerrry smooth:burn:
So should I rub some ASII and get it into the base of the cooler before putting it on? (I do that with CPU HSFs)

ANOTHER QUESTION:
Since I am putting ram sinks on, (I'm using arctic alumina adhesive) how do I apply pressure to it so that it will stick better? I don't have clamps etc.
Mostly every base is smooth..
As for the ramsinks I'm not too sure you can go down to like the local store and just find one of those small clamps which would only cost 5-10 bux.
Oh and I add if you clamp it make sure you put a cusion on the board(opposite side of the Ramsinks) so you won't damage the card in anyway.

the crystal orbs base is a one peice construciton and i have heard that it is extremely flat, also it will make a difference, probably not a big one though, mybe youll get to 290-300, i only gained 5 mhz with upgrading to the cooling i posted in the Video Cards section(Check out cooling on my Geforce2 thread) , and i definately recommend putting asII on there, even Leadtek put soem thermal paste....

what's the clamp look like?
You don't really have to know you can ask the sales representative where it is.
Although it is something that has a supporting end and like a wrench if you twist the side willl move slowly up/down left/right.
Its like you put your left hand infront of your face, palm facing your face and then pretend you roll the thing like on the wrench as you roll it your right hand palm goes towards the left hand palm basically it keeps it there for you.

the crystal orb uses the normal pins that ship with most Nvidia cards...
