you know how 66-83mhz runs the pci at 1/2 of the fsb?
and at 84mhz and up this changes to 1/3?

get this, my 733 runs reallll cool right up to 83mhz (1/2 pci).
but when i try to run it at 84mhz(1/3 pci) i lose video signal.
i tried a bunch of other frequencies above 84mhz and none of them work. the only way i get video is 83mhz and down.

so it looks like the 1/2 to 1/3 change is messin me up. i seriously don't think it's cuz my processor is running hot.
doesn't this seem counter-intuitive though? 1/3 pci would usually be more stable than 1/2 wouldn't it?

does anyone know how i can fix this?
please help.

You mean you POST and load okay and then video goes bad? Or when you save in BIOS at 84 all you get is blank screen? If it's the first, I'd say the vid card doesn't like the AGP speed. If the latter, the CPU or motherboard or whatever may not be happy.

When you click over from 1/2 to 1/3 your PCI/AGP bus ends up under spec. You might try jumping straight to 100 if you are indeed cool. What are your temps, BTW? And are you still running at stock voltage?

Strangely enough I'm having trouble with an 11 multiplier also, crossing the next divider line at 123/124.

what temps are you running? and what CV? just to let you know when you push your FSB your CPU will get really tempermental about temps case in point when my P3 gets to 33C it will lock everything up since the highest i let it get is 31C i'm fine but this kind of shows you what really good cooling can do, anyway i dought its your problem but its worth a thought, i have seen a few different people with the VH6 line that have problems where your at and i think Godfodda has a good point you may need to try to get well beyond that 83 84 range but it wil take good cooling and more CV as well as maybe cooling your northbridge with a nice little HSF. Well this may or may not get you your extra MHZ you may have maxed out your MB or CPU.

my temp is about right... 33C?
and core voltage, i tried everything from 1.7 up to my mb max.

what happens exactly is this:
i change the FSB from 83 to 84, save and exit.
on the reboot. the video never comes on.
i have to jump the reset on the cmos or take the battery out to get back video.

i've tried going straight to 100mhz and even 133.
nothing differs. it seems like i can't get video when my system goes to 1/3 pci.

i've tried changing agp speed from 4X to 2X and it still doesn't work.

perhaps some peripheral in my computer doesn't like running at 1/3*84, maybe it likes 1/2*83 better?
is that possible?

btw, i just ordered the sk6 copper heatsink w/ 7000rpm fan...

does anyone else have the sk6?

Okay, you're having the exact problem as I am at the next level and I am clueless as to how to fix it. It's not a specific video problem (I think), it's just that your system won't initialize because the processor won't work where it's at. At least these are all the assumptions I've been working under with my problem. Who knows, maybe it is video related. I'm going to keep an eye on this and maybe we'll both get a solution from someone soon.

I think Godfodda knows this but make sure you have sideband disabled in your registry the VIA chipset does not like sideband.

As far as the SK6 its a good top of the line HS so your fine there, make sure you have good case cooling and if your fan on your CPU HS is blowing down on the HS make sure the case fan in the rear is blowing cool air in not out this will keep your HS with fresh cool air this will drop temps by a few C allot better then having your fan suck the hot air that is being exhuasted.

i have agp 4X enabled in my bios, but my Expertools utility in windows XP tells me that i am only running 2X... what's up?

Just a though have you tried running your AGPBus at 2/3?

Since in your User Defiine option you should set the AGP Bus to "2/3" instead of 1/1 when overclocking.

Tell me if you can set to 2/3 and have the video post.

What video card do you have?

tsunami: Unless they've changed the options from the VH6T/VH6-2, the AGP bus is fixed at 2*PCI.
