What's the difference between these pumps, which one should i get??

The second one has a speed comtrol (knob). Speeds can be set for 1-5. If noise is an issue for you, then the Vario version would be what you want.

Even at the max setting, the D5 is pretty inaudible considering you have fans and spinning drives. I don't think the speed adjustable pump is worth the cash, I would rather get the DDC3.1/2 with the Petra top instead for virtual silence.

Definitely. The variable D5 isn't worth the price increase.
