View Full Version : Read Errors - What to do about this?
I erased and formatted a Seagate IDE 120GB hard drive in preparation of selling it; however it tested with read errors. Does this mean this drive is still usable? And, is there anything I should do about this other than stating the problem to my potential buyers? Thanks
Try do a full format, not the short one - yes it takes hours and yes it stresses drives but it can revive buggy drives. Sometimes...
I am assuming you did a thorough chkdsk? You could also reset the MBR
Other than that inform the buyer about the problem. Not much else you can do.
I used one of the programs on my "Ultimate Boot CD" to check it. I will try a full format and see what happens. Thanks
