So I go downstairs the other morning and find that my GF has both windows in the computer/dining room open. It's a pretty brisk and breezy morning (for NC anyway). Warm cup of coffee in hand, I sit at the desk and notice that my case temp is 14°C!
hmmmmmmmmmmm... the possibilities!
So, rather than shut the windows and warm up a little, I decide to see what magic these chilly temps could bring me.
To make a long story short, I got my new Leadtek GF3 Ti200t up to 250/550, and stable enough to run several times thru 3DMark2001 and about an hour of Quake3 and Serious Sam (until I got too cold to take it any more!). Got my best score so far in 3DMark2001 @ 5700!
The whole time my cpu never got over 31°C and the gpu (normally shows 30°C max under normal "ambient" temps) stayed below about 23°C.
The only problem now is that I KNOW what my components are capable of with better cooling, I think water cooling for the cpu and gpu might be on the menu...
Anyone have any good/bad experience with one unit cooling both cpu and gpu, maybe even the video memory? Can you make a "parallel" unit with just one pump/radiator, or is cooling in series acceptable?
