Building a case would take more than 13 hours for sure. You would think its simple but it really is not.

Some mods you could do to a pre-built case could be:

1. Cut out blowholes in the top for 120mm fans
2. Cut side panel and add a window
3. Add water cooling
4. Do a paint job on a pre-built case.

Personaly a nice paintjob combined with adding a couple blow holes in the top and a fan on the side of a case would take a while. As long as you come up with a really nice design.

Something I want to do soon, is cut an outline of something into the case and but a cathode behind it. You could use the right side of the case(behind mobo) and cutout your name, your schools name, a picture of your school mascot(that would probably take a good amount of time) and but a cathode behind it.

this may take a few hours:

It was fun :) I ended up soldering the LCD into the 110V PSU plug... :)

BTW: Getting credit for this in school is SWEET :p You must water cool it, make the blocks, make the flow meter, make the emergency shutoff when flow is low... man this sounds like fun! :p wish I was in your place... I'd be going crazy

Ok watercooling sounds like a great idea. How would I go about learning how to make a water cooling system? I know nothing about water cooling and I have never built a computer before so this would all be new to me. I need someone to point me in the right direction.

Does the side of the antec 900 case come off? the right side, It would be cool to add another clear view pannel or laser cut the steel or something. hmm

what do u guys think? I dont have the materials/tools for that though

lets stick with water cooling.

Check the Watercooling section here, there is plenty of info on everything you would need.

IIRC (I dont own a 900) the side DOES come off and you could mod in a different one if you wanted.

If you dont have the tools you are probably better off just setting up a watercooling rig instead of modding a 900.

Also, theres no much point in putting a full window in the other side, as all you will see is the mobo tray.

If you really love the 900 as much as I do :), find a way to integrate or at least seat a more squarish (or two smaller rectangular) radiator over the 200mm fan for the watercooling. Heck, if it's good enough I may even try it if you go for it.

Whenever I try for watercooling that is, heh.

If you really want to mod the rhs window you could put one of those window reservoirs in. that would work well with your wc idea

Cut holes everywhere you can to hide power cables and hard drive cables and fan wires. There is a lot of space behind the motherboard trade and a few well placed holes can hide a lot of stuff. This took me around 2 hours my first time using a Dremel saw, I cut out the back pannels and added 2 holes on the tray for my wires, I then sanded the holes and corners down so they wouldn't slice my cables.

Here is what I ended up with, you could also do spraypaint jobs and a ton more but it's just an idea to add to some you already have.

I hope they would let me do something like this for my senior project as I would take it and run with it

just make sure on your mods to take your time and WEAR SAFETY GLASSES while cutting metal. I cannot stress this enough as i have had many family members in the hospital for having metal shavings fly into their eye and their vision is screwed for life.

If you do water cooling add UV cathodes into the case and try to find a coolant UV reactive dye that matches your schools main color and paint the case your secondary color and then do UV reactive sleeves everywhere.
