question: does anyone know for sure why the 7500 will produce tv-out at 1024x768 while the 8500 is still stuck at 800x600?

the 8500 still uses the old rage theater chip that originally came with the Rage Fury Pro and other Rage128 Pro cards, however the 7500 uses a newer VIVO chip, i do believe that they are trying to force people to either get an 8500DV or a 7500 for their video needs making the 8500 cheaper for gamers who dont need VIVO....

(Summerized)
Gigabyte Technology's Retail 8500, MAYA AP or AP64D-H powered by RADEON 8500. The board will be equipped with 64 MB of 3.5 ns DDR and clocked at 275/275 MHz core/memory.

IT has hardware monitoring functions and advanced cooling system with Extra fan and silver (Not real silver) heatsinks. The most interesting feature is that it is equipped with Video-In connectors.

With both the 7500 and 8500 you will be able to adjust the fan speed, core and memory clockings.
