Hello,
I heard a long while ago about adjusting the
speed of the upload & download on aDSL.

Ex.
Less speed on download/more on upload or
More speed on download/less on upload (this is how adsl is usually)

Soo, how can I ajust these values?

Any links? I know you can adjust these settings with v.92 modems with the proper ISP's, but I've never heard about that on DSL

Yes, YOU CAN change these speeds, but at set rates. You cant choose EXACT numbers that you want or need.

Go to www.speedguide.net for many PATCHES and tipson tweaking your aDSL.

I have actually tweaked mine, and I noticed a difference :)

I dont think you can actually chg those speeds, i know you can tweak em to make em a bit faster but you cannot chg the speeds you have. I buy 960/120 but i actually get 1008/135 with tweaking but i dont think you can, say, split you bandwith like 500/500 because of the server. If someone knows how or actually does it, i'd be more than interested in knowing how.

I won't say it is imposible but the info that determines the speed and the split up/down is downloaded in to your modem when you do a connect.

You can't give up some download speed for upload or vice versa. This is simply because when you sign up for any high speed, they put a cap (limit) at the main office (or wherever) that says that one house can't go more than 1Mb or 3Mb or whatever. That is why when people say that they can get over 1Mb when they are paying for a 900K connection should not be believed. The download/upload speeds have nothing to do with your modem (heard some myths that there is an actual cap on the modem) or computer. The fact of the matter is, cable and DSL can probably provide speed up to 500 times faster than they are advertising. However, that is the bandwith limit for the actual company which then resells it to the consumer and splits it up so there is enough for everyone. Therefore, it is useless to try and patch your regestry (it has nothing to do with changing maximum speed). The truth about tweaking is to get closer to the maximum speed that is sold to you by the provider. You will never even actually reach the top speeds promised to you by your provider (look for explanation of overhead for clarification) much less go beyond them. However, if you can prove me wrong and somehow manage to change the cap through your computer registry, send me a message.

PS. Uncapping your connection is against the law and against the rules of any provider.

dont want to enter anything illigal here but in fact are not the caps entirely dependent on your modem in that your service (purchase/limit)is identified based on the MAC address that your modem uniquely spits back at your provider? Isn't the MAC paired with the ip/leasing, gateway assignment to determine the cap/account.

Depends on the company. Thier are several ways to do it, all involve a file with particulars being downloaded in to the modem from the server to progam the particulars into the modem before you can get on.

I've heard of uncapping Cable modems but never a Dsl modem.
