Halo 3 Launch

Who is going to be there tomorrow night to pick up Halo 3 when it launches? I'm personally probably just going to get it on Tuesday afternoon when I'm done with classes for the day, since I have it pre-ordered anyway. But I want to see how many people are excited for this release.

i'm just going to wait like a week, after the initial Halo 3 rush is over to pick it up.

Maybe i'll get lucky, and find one around thursday or so. but meh, i'll get it within the next week or two.

Its a game i really want to play, but at the same time, not high enough on my personal list to warrant a reserve, or to stand in a line. ( that, and i work 2nd shift, and my local gamestop will be selling it monday night at midnight. no way i could get there soon enough ). Because our local store got over 300 reserves, and i doubt they will get enough copies to cover all the reserves. So most likely, it will be first-come First-serve if you have a reserve. And if you don't have a reserve...back of the line.

so like i said, i'll just wait a few days. But after work tonight, i WILL be stopping by walmart to see if they got a copy in. ( a walmart is within 5 minutes of where i work, so its not out of my way in the least bit ).

What really made me cancel it was the hype and seeing all the ads in mags and it basically getting pushed in ya face all the time. I will get it maybe in December to finish off all the story I've even told my mate who's getting it on Wednesday not to mention it once and tell me about it or I'll snap his disc.

Really? You can choose to not look at (well, acknowledge) the ads, I personally ignore them. No reason to cancel a $60 preorder and get ****ed at the mention of Halo just because you saw some ads (in other words, self-control). Microsoft isn't going to let their biggest IP go unnoticed.

Besides, they're no Head On commercials.

I don't even BELIEVE in pre-orders anymore. It made since back in the cartridge days when there were only so many cartridges to go around. But you can make discs by the millions. How many copies of Gears of War were there? When was the last time a major 360 title was sold out?

I'm sure there'll be EIGHT TIMES as many copies of Halo 3 as there were of Gears of War.

Least of all it will be impossible to escape from the game in Chicago...

Gamestop was packed full of people, unorganized, etc...etc.

Walmart was EMPTY. I arrived there are like 12:10. Took a few min. to get there from work. As i got there, a few people was leaving with Halo 3.

I walked in, and was able to buy a collectors edition without any problem. one of the guys told me that Walmart signed a exclusive deal with Microsoft, so they get more Collectors editions than most other stores.

Hell, they even a Halo 3 Xbox-360 in stock.

Hell, they still have a TON of games left. And by a TON, i literally mean at least 50. And this is a small town, with only like 20,000 people in it. So we don't have one of those GIANT walmarts either.

so for anyone who couldn't get one at Gamestop, head to your local walmart, they will almost be guaranteed to have it.

Just played a few campaign levels, used about 3 or 4 bubble shields and a gravlift by accident while trying to reload... Feels like Halo 2 and Halo 1 at the same time, I like it. Graphics are very nice.

Yup took my friend and I about that long on heroic as well. Story mode was a tad short but I think I will be playing through it a lot more. There werent any levels that I really didnt like. Cant wait to get into multiplayer after I get some sleep lol.

I don't think we have to worry about people not playing on Live. I'm expecting at least a year of online play with this game, and I'm sure it'll go longer than that, but that's probably how long it will hold my interest at best. I picked it up this morning, and I'll play it this afternoon after I'm done with classes. Hopefully my TV will stop cutting out by then. I can't wait to do co-op campaign, that's what I'm doing for the first run-through, and I'm thinking about trying Legendary. I've beaten the other two on Legendary, but I never tried it right out of the gate. Hopefully it will extend the somewhat short length of the story mode that some people are complaining about.

I would almost guarantee that anybody in a major US or Canadian city could walk into Wal-Mart or K-Mart and get it right now. Small towns that have only a Wal-Mart and K-Mart to shop at may be a different story.

I just don't get the excitement with the Halo games. The concept of the Halo games to me is no more advanced or indepth than say Quake 3 yet people have a frenzy over it.

I guess for Xbox this is a big deal.

Its pretty much the whole FPS thing. Just like everyone has their panties in a bunch over Crysis.

The hype is the same, only the names change.

I was at Gamestop today and they had the EXACT same mountain of games they had the day Crackdown was released. They had the preorders arranged in Alphabetical order (my guess? 75 of those) and then a million more in boxes and some in a case.

Like I said: Games don't "sell-out" anymore. There were none on display at the best buy I went to a few hours later, but I'm absolutely certain that, if I asked for one, they had some in the back. (Matter of fact they were probably just keeping ALL of them in the back to make sure they fulfilled their preorders.)

Well I had some free time today so went and picked the game up. Only played a few online matches so far, but from what I have played I like it. It seems a bit faster then the other two yet still slow enough to be Halo. (I may be imagining the speed thing, you just seem to jump a lot higher which seems to make it more a bit more fast paced.)

I like the maps a lot better for mp in this one too...although Death Island for Halo 1 PC was always the best :p

Yea it was the limited edition so normal and legendary were both fine. As others have said this issue was known before the release so if you went home with a scratched disc thats your fault.

Well im one of them :mad: went out and bought a preowned core system today seeings as my old 360 suffered from the red ring of death or whatever it's called, with a copy of the limited edition tin box. Got home hooked it all up the 360 worked a treat :bday: opened up the tin box halo is in put it in started playing about 5 minutes into it and shazam "unreadable disc error" :mad: :mad: the disc itself is perfect no scratches what so ever altough the other disc that comes in the box has a few minor scratches from coming loose inside the tin box...seems only the limited edition is suffering from this, I'm so ****ed right now its unbelivable :bang head .

Microsoft are replacing the discs for free but you have to wait upto 2 WEEKS! before you get it back :mad:

I tried multiplayer on it after realising I wasn't going to be able to play campaign anytime soon, got about 30 minutes game time before the disc read error came back up :( so I just gave it a by and put it back in its case :bang head
