Namely, is there a temperature monitor on the card...if not, is there anyway to tell how hot is too hot for a gpu, and any apps i can use to monitor my temps on my gpu (MDM5.x?)...
2nd...i really don't understand why i need thermal "glue" for a gpu hsf...it has clips to clip onto the gpu..soo...can't just good ol' ASII work (am i missing something?)...
3rd...is there anyway to achieve nice and high clockspeeds with out yanking off stock cooling? (the gainward hsf looks pretty badass...but is it just plain bad?)...as always thanks again (damn you guys are smart ;))
Gainward card coming THURSDAY WOOO

as far as i know Leadtek and ASUS are the only ones with thermal monitoring...i normally tell how hot my gpu is by touching the back of the core "advanced technology;) ", and if the card comes with thermal monitoring you havce to use the proggie that comes with the card...
you only need glue if you change to a heatsink that doesnt use the pegs (like a 486 heatsink)
and it is possible to achieve high speeds at stock, just not very recommended...the gainward hs looks decent, but not too good...

Which one did you get?... If I remember your last thread you were looking at the Golden Sample... If you went with that one then to be honest the stock cooling kicks *ss... I was tinkering with mine and with my processor at stock speed I was able to push the Core and Mem upto 220/480 and run 3dmark 2k1 2 times in a row directly after using Prime95 (just d/l'ed it and was seeing my proc temps at stock) and it held up no prob.... I haven't tried higher because the Gainward Expertool only goes to 220/480 but I've seen others push it upto Ti500 speed on stock cooling (so they say;) ) As far as monitoring it has NONE... kinda sucks but I don't really care to much for vid card temps... as long as its stable it works for me:p
Also I think 4ns memory would rate at 250 effectively 500 so running at 480 is still well within spec... I think:beer:

so...When i OC my card, basically it will only crash if it gets too hot...or will much greater damage be done to the card when i get it too hot?
rainmaqer, i am getting the golden sample ti200 (according to newegg ;))
also, do i over clock both core/mem slowly? or can i do one or the other?

I just use the performance enhanced settings of 200/444... If you do overclock I'd say move both up first... then bump them one at a time until it gets unstable then back down a notch or two. Usually the comp will crash or just lock up when components get too hot, especially the vid card.... but if by chance it doesn't lock up it might get too hot and do permenant damage... kind of a gamble... that's where good case cooling plays it's part;)
