For some reason my stupid screen saver did not turn on today and that sucks for me because I got home and there was my backround image burned into my LCD monitor. Im so ****ed that im considering buying another from dell. Unfortunately the warranty on this one is long gone so I have to rule that out. Does anyone know what I can do so that I dont need to drop 300 bucks on a monitor. :bang head

Supposedly gives good results.

My Xerox LCD used to burn in images after a few minutes or so, until it just died one day. Give it about a week and the burn-in might go away.

LCDs dont really get image burn in. They can get image retention, but it is only temporary. Try setting to an all white screen for a while and see if it clears.

Yup, within a few minutes of sitting at the Windows desktop, then I go to play a game and I can see these partial ghosts of desktop icons still on the screen, but eventually it would go away. I've never seen an LCD do that, except this Xerox, which was a re-branded PTI that I'd bought a few years ago from Costco. Maybe it was something defective with the screen, because last year it died on me for no apparent reason. I went to turn it on and I could see the backlight come on, but no image. I opened it up to look for something that might've been disconnected but everything looked fine inside.

Just not a good LCD at all, it had made an annoyingly high pitched whine since day one whenever it was turned on.

Well I know that dell has some good screens but since my screen saver didnt come on, it was running for at least 15hrs+.

I don't even use a screensaver because it's pretty much a program that starts up. I run enough programs that get a little upset when a screensaver starts... I just have the monitor go to sleep, screensavers won't save watts.

It's "Power Options" in the screen saver properties page. Or you can go right to Control Panel.

I've had 'image retention' on my 20" dell a couple of times. Both times I left the screen saver/ power options off on accident. Just turned the screen saver/power options back on and a couple of days later it was ok again.

Burning in an LCD is almost impossible...and it generally takes weeks, not minutes

Um, do you not have a power button on the monitor...?
