Just wondering if anyone still cares what AMD uses to name their processors: true mhz or XP rating. Many were in an uproar when they announced this before the palomino was released.

I personally don't care and think that if it helps the common Bestbuy patron buy/understand an AMD system can work as well if not better than it's intel equivalent then so be it.

my 2 cents

I can care less about the pr # i think that its more of a scam for amd then heling out the person buying it. alot of the people that look at the 1500 or 1900 acctuall think they are getting the 1500 when its only a 1.3 i mean sure that they perform just as good if not better then intel in some areas. but i think that they should stop worrie about what the processor is named and start work on cooling the temp on those bad boys down.

I agree with FunkyTechnician it helps the "average Joe" who dont know squat. and it helps amd sell more cause the average joe thinks all that matters is a higher mhz # which we knoww isnt true

very good Yes most of the average overclocker know that bandwith is where the cap is at U get alot of bandwith from the Cpu and the memory U get a faster process of course the mhz doesn't hurt...

It's a good thing. Joe ignorant looks at mHz and AMD gives him equivalent mHz. It's a little deceptive, but it's a whole lot easier than somehow convincing the ignorant masses that 1500 mHz(Intel) means less performance than 1500 mHz(AMD).
You've all dealt with computer-stupid people, right? Now think about how much fun it'd be telling them that a 1.5 gHz XP it faster than a 1.5 gHz PIV. I'm sure that it's prevented 50 heart attacks already.

Can you help me?

When I am selling a Comp System, I always try to explain that AMD is much better for performance and price.

But than I found those really stupid ones which think that Intel is the original and that AMD is a copy. How can I covince these guys? It first makes me  than after some time I start  but after two hours explaining I finally take out the  in me and start f(&^(*_)_&%(*&_)(*ing at them

AT least :burn:

And i

:D ;)
