agp aperture?

That setting will allow a agp video card to use the amount of system memory the setting is at.

Theoretically... yes... but the highest agp aperture size I've seen is 256Mb... I could be wrong though

It's similar to the way a operating system can use the hard drive as virtual memory when it runs out of conventional memory.

Well, i have 64mb of memory on my vid card, would i get any performance boost for setting the aperature higher?

best thing to do is benchmark each setting until you find a sweet spot... mine is 128... the difference is marginal at 256... toward the negative really.

Even if you set it to 256mb you will never use that much video memory unless your doing hardcore multimedia(like video editing, 3d animation, etc.)

Well crap! All this time I've been setting my AGP aperature to match the amount of video ram I have! I'll have to look into that and play with the settings. Thanks for the info y'all!
