That setting will allow a agp video card to use the amount of system memory the setting is at.

System memory as in not video memory? As in if I have 1GB of system RAM, I can set my AGP aperature at 512MB (theoretically), and have an extra 512MB of video memory?

It's similar to the way a operating system can use the hard drive as virtual memory when it runs out of conventional memory.

best thing to do is benchmark each setting until you find a sweet spot... mine is 128... the difference is marginal at 256... toward the negative really.

Well crap! All this time I've been setting my AGP aperature to match the amount of video ram I have! I'll have to look into that and play with the settings. Thanks for the info y'all!

It is true! You can learn something new every day!
