Radiator?

Ok, well im installing water cooling for the system in my signature. I want to cool my CPU for now, but probably my GPU also in the future. Will a Double Radiator be ok for this?

Thank you

and should i go with 1/2 or 1/4 inch tubing???

Im not an expert by any means,

that swiftech double would probably work at stock speeds. You planning to overclock? I assume so being at OCForums :) If you're going to be overclocking I personally would go with the swiftech 3x 120 at minimum. The comparison I read said the swiftech 3x120 is about equivalent to a thermochill pa120.2, so, if you are constrained to using a double radiator for size reasons I would go with the pa120.2. If you can fit a triple I'd look into the MCR320(best bang/buck for triple radiators) or if you can afford it, the pa120.3 will have the best performance and room to grow.

As for tubing size I'd run 1/2" barbs with 7/16 ID hose.

HTH,

^the only thing with the 320 is that it wont fit the case I wanna get. Uggg. I think I will be on on a 220. Because I need a case I can modify, but can still do OC'ing with... any suggestions>? cases

There are several other threads around here with lists of good w/c cases. From the top of my head:

Coolermaster Stackers
Coolermaster 690's
ThermalTake Armor's
Silverstone TJ09s
Various Lian Li cases
Mountainmods stuff
etc

ok thanks. I will look around a bit more..

cases with psu's on the bottom are easier to install radiators right?

Well I dont want a full tower, too big IMO. Its hard to find a Mid Tower.

Also, why would I need a tripple? wouldn't a double be enough for the CPU? possible GPU later?

Woop, sorry, when I read the thread I skipped right to your sig and assumed you were cooling the 8800 as well. Double is definitely enough for that CPU. If you dont have room for a triple I'd probably just go with the PA120.2. That will give you a decent amount to add that 8800 later and toy around with clock speeds.

just curious, but you might want to look at getting a 77 bonnie heatercore and chopping the bends off. its about half the price of the swfity dual, but not as neat looking :)

Well, The PA120.2 is too big for the case that i am going to be modding. Seriously with the 220 it is gnna be close to an inch left lol. (freakin psu on top!) otherwise i could fit it.

I MIGHT cool the 8800 later, would the swiftech 220 work ok for that? because the swiftech is the only one that will fit right now. Unless if I did a top of the case mount, but IMO those are ugly and bulky.

the pa like $120, that is way too expensive for me. Is there a better 220 that I could get? thats not too fat.

I think the MCR220 is the best bang/buck double radiator. For all out performance the PA120.2 has it. But like you said, double the price and bigger. You're probably best off with that MCR220, should work fine and if you decide to add the GPU to the loop later, maybe by then you'll have worked out a way to stick another single radiator in there or something.

^yeah. But would I TRULY NEED another radiator for a cpu + gpu loop? why wouldn't the 220 be ok?

^ok thanks. Well the case does have 2 water cooling holes in the back, probably meant for a radiator on top, idk. But ima try n fit that 220 and cut the case to what it needs. I will post my parts list and tell me whatcha think k?

Thanks Mattt, do u have a watercooled systeM?

QUESTION: with this coolant, will it be good against corrosion and algae and what not? or do I need something else??? Anything else recommended?

Any suggestions for what I have above? Thank you!

The good thing is you can just add more later if your temps aren't where you want'em. Seems like you could easily throw a single rad on that back 120 hole if you needed to, to help with the double up top. Might not need that though.

I'm working on a couple boxes. One's a computer built inside of a half-barrel beer keg  and the other is automotive themed.

Also, why the tygon? The clearflex performs just the same at much less cost. Only other difference in what im going to run is the CPU block - I'll probably grab the swiftech apogee GT.

EDIT: If you read that thread up top about impact of tubing size, it seems like a good deal to run 7/16. Little harder to get over the fittings but will seal tighter and is a little easier to work with then that 1/2" ID stuff. Just a thought.

Ok i will look for cheaper tubing. Thank you. Yeah i might grab the apogee gt.

can you supply a link for the tubing you mentioned? thank you!

Yeah your beer kegg is gnna be sick. good luck. Thank you

you new to this forum?

is this the tubing ur talking about?
7/16" ID (5/8" OD) Masterkleer General Purpose Clear PVC Tubing
http://www.petrastechshop.com/7id5odmagepu.html

also your right, icould put a single rad on the back fan there, that would be sick. Maybe later if I truly need it.What is the disadvantage to running the look with a double radiator supporting a q6600 and a 640mb 8800gts lol?

Check out the stuff here. The 1/2" ID clearflex 60 is .99c/ft.

I guess I'm new. Been lurking for a long time, finally made an acct and started posting so eventually I can post a progress thread with my buildup and maybe find some deals on parts in the classies.

EDIT: Petra's has the 7/16" masterkleer stuff
