Ok guys,
This will be my first time really tryin to max out my gpu, (ok its not my first, but its the first time im really pushing this card). Im using rivatuner and following a basic guide to oc'ing it. I need a temperature monitor for my 88000gts so I can tell if Im getting good airflow. Any suggestions?

You can monitor your temps in Rivatuner.

Under the "Target Adapter" Window, you open the menu. One of the options should have a thumbnail of a magnifying lens over a chip labeled "Hardware Monitoring". Open this and it will let you know the clock and RAM speed as well as the temps. There are also options for logging your temps.

Good luck!

it says my core temp is 55 C. Thats overclocked to 620/1000. Is this temp ok? What about my clock speed?

I ran 3d06 and got a score of 9789 and at stock I get 8588.

I tried overclocking in rivatuner, I set it to 590/890 around there, then I turned on the nvidia monitor and it said that it was 576/890...weird? any ideas?

Updating my riva tuner would mean I lose my fan settings :(

Riva tuner has options for different speeds when its not under a load. Thats probably why it didnt say you oc'ed speed when you checked it. Put it under a high 3D load then check it in Riva, it will also tell you core speeds.

I tried the ATi Tool scan for artifacts option and it the core jumped up to 590, so I geuss it only goes up when playing 3D, which is fine. thanks :)

Looks about right to me. My card idles usually between 52C and 55C with the stock cooler. If your temps get high you can also change the fan speed under "low level system settings". I run my fan at 100% 24/7, its a touch noisier (I cant notice it with 8 system fans :P) but it brings down temps a lot.

ya I changed the fan speed to 100%.

OK,
Ran into my first obstacle. I oc'd too much and it froze. So, i restarted and now i cannot oc anymore...
Under system tweaks (first of all I cannot see the shader tweak anymore) if i click detect now it does nothing and if i click reboot it does nothing. I cannot access the sliders to change my clocks

Ive reinstalled riva twice too

sorry for double post....

Fixed the problem if anyone is interested. I uninstalled my display drivers then reinstalled.. worked like a charm.
