the link dont wurk, at least for me.

Anyway ive seen sumthing that can fit in this category; it was an electrified small piece of pink material who emit bright white light when the power is on. It was use to fill the little square badge on front of most comp case, so you could make your own decal with a printer (clear surface) and light it up. Dunno if thats the same thing but with a greater dimension.. sry ive lost the url before anyone ask :(

Sound really cool, here the stats just in case the link go down again:

Electro-luminescent (EL) sheet is a thin (0.7mm) and flexible light source, which produces a cool, uniform light that has very low power consumption. This versatile product can be cut to size, or shape and is available in a wide selection of colours.

The EL sheet is a multilayer sandwich containing special fluorescent dyes dispersed in a binder, it has a high dielectric constant. When an alternating current is applied, the sheet emits light, the a.c. current is generated by an inverter.

The 5V (175Hz) inverter is a compact design ideal for use where space is a premium, and has an on/off facility provided by shorting the two centre pins. The 5V (400Hz), 12V (400Hz) and 12V (400Hz) inverters provide a higher brightness output and have fully isolated outputs with the output waveform optimised to ensure long EL sheet life. The 12V (400Hz) version is capable of driving up to 160 square centimetres. All inverters are encapsulated.

Applications include backlights for LCDs, front illumination for dials and instruments. In addition to electronic applications EL is used in safety, security and for special lighting effects.

The only thing i wonder is how much heat these sheet make, beside that point, it sure could have many use inside my case/keyboard for a cool mod project :)

Diggrr

It's only rated to +60C (your own post ;) ) It won't generate that much.

A stealth CD mod with the whole front of the bay for the drive light!

I'd put it all over the side panel! Screw neon!
