can i put a 9xxx series processor in a intel

d945pnsl board without a bios update

will it still power up

or will the board just fry the proc

it is only programmed for the d8xxx series proc

d945pnsl comes up with nothing on Intel's site. Is it possible to get the correct model # of the board you have?

worst case the system will not boot... it wont fry anything, just that the older dual cores like the 8xx's use 533fsb.
