I just got in my processor, fan, and hard drive this morning, but need some advice on whether or not to use a CPU Shim?
It sounded like a good thing when I ordered, but no one ever mentions using them so I don't even know if I should?
Also, is there any curtain position that it needs to be in?
The reason I'm asking is because there is a rectangled shaped cut-out in one of the corners.

Any help would be appreciated!

You can do some serious PROCESSOR Screw ups installing that shim.

If i were you, i'd get a computer shop to install it for $35, Because you can totally chip ur processor, Someone about 1-2 weeks ago CHIPPED There processor by putting the shim on..

Whatever you want dude...

My opinion: Take it to a computer shop, or do some HARDCORE Research on how to install it

I have never used a shim and have never cracked-chipped a cpu in at least 20 times of removing installing the heatsink.

Just be carefull when you install the heatsink.

When you attach the clip to the socket only push on the clip and not the heatsink.

If you do want to use the shim the place you bought it from should have given you instructions.

Since not all shims are the same installation can vary.

If it is a metal shim I would not use it for sure.

Obviously he Has ZERO Experience In installing a shim, Hell i dont know how to install it, I'd have a friend come over and install or it do HELLA RESEARCH as i said before in my last post on a very DETAILED Site how to exactly install it.

Thanks.

Since no one seems to ever talk about them, I figured they were not such a good thing, but like I said, It sounded good at the time.

Maybe I'll hang it from the tree....

I appreciate all the advice!
