Hey peeps:beer:
I built my a new computer couple weeks ago, everything been great and I played the Crysis Beta last night......Wow, guys; the game is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To be apart of the beta you have to meet special requirments and have a fileplanet subscribtion.
Anyway, playing it on my 8800 GTS 320 XFX(no oced) high settings and 16x AA and 16 AF it runs smooth:eek::eek::eek:
But, the gamer side of me wants more performance, anyone had any problems with SLI 8800 GTS's ? I've read good reviews then I've read bad ones. Most of the bad reviews come from people that say they play at low resolutions(people saying SLI performs at higher better).
I have a 19" LCD my max res is 1280x1024, think I'd have problems ?

an oc'd GTX or ultra will smoke two 320 GTS's, use less power and free up 2 pci slots if needed.
sell the 320 and put it towards a GTX or Ultra IMO.
I agree, too much power and heat with SLI or CF. Get a single higher end card.

I wouldn't go sli unless you're running it on high resolution, go with what these guys said and grab a single higher end card.

No. SLI GTS's beat a GTX and is about on par with an Ultra. IMO though the heat and power consumptions doesn't make it worth it. You are playing at fairly low resolutions, I don't see why you would need more power.

It's not that I want more power, just the 320mb of memory is holding me back on loading the textures in gameplay In crysis. Like it will glitch when I go to something new I havent viewed for a split second then run fine, I've read around that this is cause of the low amount of memory and takes the card a little bit of time to process it. Now, thats just what other people have told me, if its not true then by all means, someone tell me it isn't.
I went cheapy on my video card cause I couldn't afford the $300 more on the video card. But, that was limited by my unfortunate evil bank....
I'm not sure yet about upgrading I already score higher on 3dmark than people with GTX's. My last benchmark was 11,653. That was without using Rivatuner on my shader clock(used ATI tool).

If you get another GTS so you can have SLI set up, you will still have only 320mb of video memory.
Thus your best choice is get a 640mb card or a GTX.

you could always wait to see how the full version runs? Seems like there are places in the beta that are in need of optimization.

And ill bet Nvidia will have new drivers the day after the game comes out.

The 163.71 drivers already added support for Crysis(right after beta 2 launch).
Most likely the game will perform alot better after beta, and even now it performs great!(I have everything to it's highest besides the locked settings that aren't available in beta 3 atm).
I'm also running XP, not vista; I think not having DX10 hinders the game because I believe it was really designed for DX10 not DX9.0c.:bang head
You my friend, need an SLI mousepad, for that extra oomph...
And I just happen to know where to get them - see sig

LMAO!!!!!
@OP I have the same problem with my 8800 GTS 320MB. I am not sure if it is just the lack of memory or a poor implementation of the lesser amount of memory. I do not have this problem with my GTX.

Are you bein sarcastic  Because there's no way a GTS can run it on high settings with 16x AA and 16 AF unless its on like 640x400 resolution.

Do you have the beta?

Yes I do. From personal experience, and from talking in game, and from other people on the forum I'm sure a GTS cant perform that well..

I can beleive all but the 16xAA and 16xAF. If he were claiming 4xAA and 8xAF then maybe.
@ OP what framerates do you get with the settings above? What res are you playing it?

It does run smooth :/...If you don't beleive me then oh well I guess, I have a quad core system so maybe that helps it out a lot. With Stock Settings I get 11,000 on my 3dmark Score. with oced I get 11,500-600 area, thats almost more than a GTX score. If I can into the Nvidia Control Panel and set 16x aa and 16x af, it runs in-game I get around 27-50 FPS depending on how much action is going on. Never drops below 25 fps. Now If I OC my card while playing the temps get VERY high playing this game(70-75ish, out of my comfort zone really) and I never drop below 30 FPS; which to me, is good and standard for any good video card, now If I had the GTX or Ultra my system would probably never drop below 40-50 FPS but thats another case.
I'll take a screenshot showing my FPS with all the settings on high(can't go very high because it's locked in the beta).
Oh, and I'm running XP, NOT vista.
System Specs:
Q6600
2gb Crucial Ballistix
P5n32-E SLI Plus
Windtunnel Xclio Case
Tuniq Tower HSF
XFX 8800 GTS XXX Extreme Edition (560/850) <-Stock, (630,1035) Oc'd
Isn't this game meant to be played on Dual Core Extremes and Quad Cores ?

Oh I can beleive 25 FPS but that is not "smooth" in my eyes. I consider smooth > than the refresh rate you the monitor (usually > 60 FPS). I don't need a screen shot we just had differing interpertations of "smooth."

Well It will runs above 60, just not when a whole lot of action is going on >.<
If I'm, running in the deep wooded areas if performs well above 50 FPS but if there are lots of players on the screen then it will drop around 30-40 ish. That being said, I don't run it with 16x AA all the time, Only when I want it to look pretty to impress my friends :P.
Usually I run 4x AA and 16x AF, and it runs perfectly fine (at stock, card gets too hot Oced)
Heres a guy running a crap core 2 duo e4300 and gets above 50 FPS at some spots on this 8800 GTS

I guess having the quad core helps out lots. I'm gonna FRAPS my gameplay and post a few to show you guys when I get off work.
Honestly, his screen shots look like **** >-> I think he has his card set to high performance and I have mine set to High Quality always when I play.
