Has anyone experienced problems doing the upgrade, as opposed to a clean install?

I just reformatted my machine a week ago, and now, through some fast talking, unexpectedly acquired the funds from the First Bank of Wife to purchase XP Pro.

While I'm not opposed to doing the clean install, at this point, I'd much rather just upgrade for now. I can do the clean install next week after Xmas. :)

Thanks!

I have done upgrades, full installs over a previous OS, and clean installs.

The best way to install XP is to reformat and do a clean install. This takes a little longer but saves time in the long run.

If you just want to see if you like XP then go ahead and do the upgrade but it might tell you that you have corrupted files on your hard drive and not install. If this happens just do the clean install. The disadvantage to doing the ugrade is that you still have alot of old drivers and files that can cause conflicts. If you run the upgrade advisor first and uninstall any questionable programs you will minimize the potential conflicts.

Go ahead and try the upgrade first, it worked fine when I did it the first time on my puter. Then after christmas do a clean install and reformat the drives to NTFS if they are large drives.

Upgrade went ultra smooth...no problems found yet.

So far, I like XP. :)
