Brand new system. Just put it all together tonight.

X3220 G0
P5K premium
4X 1 gb crucial baliistix pc8500
4X 320gb seagate barracuda 7200.10 perps
(set as matrix RAID, 400gb RAID 0, 594ish gb RAID 5)
Corsair HX 620W
EVGA 8800 GTX
Antec 900 Gaming Case

Hardware install went well.

Post and initial boot into BIOS NP. CPU and Mobo temps bother at between 29/30 for 15+ minutes. All devices, drives, even my USB floppy all detected perfectly in BIOS.

Ctrl-I to set up RAID array as above. Status on both arrays is normal. Both are listed as bootable.

Installing Vista x64 Ultimate. Get to install screen. Load ICH9R RAID drivers from usb floppy NP (made a driver floppy disk off of the CD that came with the mobo), and then try to install Vista and it says something to the effect of....

Check hardware for compatabity with this disk. Unable to install windows.

Ok.....so I formatted each array....nothing.

Do I need to make a specific partition? Thats what Im thinking and what Im about to try....but Im a little lost here....Seems like I set up my Matrix RAID 0/5 correctly. Did a 128kb stripe and a 64kb parity (as suggested by the setup utility) and it all looks good.

This is my first Vista install. Done XP a bazillion times but.....this is different :P

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hmmm...think I figured it out.

As usual for me (happened just 3 nights ago when I was setting up/upgrading a dif computer in my home) It was the wrong RAID drivers.

Sure looked like the proper one from the disk, but I guess it wasnt.

I forgot (just realized? :P) you dont need a floppy with Vista, you can use CD, Flashdive, whatever....so I just threw in the P5K CD, browsed to the driver folder, and it grabbed the proper one for me.

At least so far....its going well...See how it goes from here :)
