I have always loved the cod series, Im not just going to get it for the multiplayer. The storylines are always good to follow.
as for Crysis, that multiplayer sucked it up they basically took bf2 and blended it with cs. (not to say that those games arent sweet). That game is way too hyped up because its goin to have sweet graphics. Ill make my final judgement when single player comes out.

COD3 was from a different developer. This was actually supposed to be COD3 until the rug got pulled out from under them. If you liked the game play of 1 and 2 then you should be excited about 4.

I agree. It always felt very solid and looking down the sites was always better in COD than any other. I'm definitely gonna miss the B.A.R. though. That was my favorite weapon in 1 and 2. Looks like I'm going to have to fins another favorite.

Yes it's a brand new engine. The old one was based on the Quake 3 TA engine if I'm not mistaken. :beer:

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will run on a proprietary engine, and has next generation features such as true world-dynamic lighting, bloom effects, dynamic shadows and depth-of-field. I just got this started... and.... WOW.... Seriously, this game is wild. The look and feel is exactly what I expects. The controls feel natural, though I wish the scroll wheel was default weapon select. I have only played for about 2min (got an IM that interrupted me) but I am loving this.

I got it going. It runs pretty good on my 7900gs, I'm actually shocked how well it runs on it. The game play is what you would expect from them. The control (sighting) feels very natural, and the action is intense. The map on the demo is the one from the videos that have been out for a while, and the action is going on everywhere. You guys remember the last few maps of CoD2 where you are raiding the bunkers? That's how the action feels. There is something going on all around you. The AI feels pretty good, and the animations look great (stumbling injured NPCs look very real).

I think it's the same engine as MOH Airborne, the textures have that same glossy feel to it.
It's damn realistic too. I played on 2nd hardest difficulty, and died so many times.
Im a bit disappointed by the absence of a cover engine, like in Rainbow Six Vegas, where you can duck behind cover, peek out and shoot.

Anyway, it ran butter smooth maxed out with 4xAA on my system. Very immersive too.
But for some reason I could not get that "thats scripted" thought out of my head.

I used to play COD2 very seriously when it first came out, then I switched to CS Source and played that a lot as well. Then I got bored of it and moved to BF2 which I am playing right now. All I can say is Call of Duty 4, from what i've see, tops anything I have played thus far. My system can play it at maximum settings @ 1440x900 with very good fps.

NOPE. Airborne is built on the UT3 engine. This is built on Activisions own engine. It looks to be a tweaked COD2 engine.

I just have to say this is the game I have been waiting for and it meets my expectations! COD2 rocked and I still play it all the time. This is a modern version. It feels the same. I just love the COD series for their feel. Runs nice and smooth on my system @ 1680x1050.

This game plays nice, 50+fps in open and 37+fps in large large open area. 90fps indoors.

At all the highest settings for the demo it looks real good. (1600x1200)

I got to play for about 10 minutes this morning before work and I'm already hooked. I have been waiting for a combat game like this for SO long it's not even funny. No silly micromanaging of teammates like the clancy games. Just more run and gun and just being able to enjoy the game. It really reminds me of the first ghost recon game!

Anyways, it runs at a solid 60 fps (refresh rate ftl) at all maximum settings and the game does indeed look gorgeous. I got killed in that initial opening scene becuase I was too busy looking around at everything. The smoke pillars and plumes are just incredible to see in motion, the explosions are amazing and that helicopter crash hahaha wow. I played up until the point where I blew up the tanks with the mortar launcher (awesome weapon). I like how you lose a little peripheral vision with the night vision too (hey just like in real life!).

The controls are all simple and intutiive, the enemy isn't psychic and can't cap you from a mile away, I love the 1 shot kill to the head and how the enemy knows when to run, attack, cover, etc.... The AI seems to be pretty good so far. The squad members aren't stupid, they know how to take care of themselves and protect each other and make smart decisions. I was impressed.

Definately one to put on my "must have" list.

Veteran is pretty much realistic mode. Enemy sees you and you take 2 or 3 quick shots (Or 1 sniper) you're gone. Their aim is very accurate and they are almost physic :)

You only got one scene left, but it's a pretty big fight. :beer:

I got another video coming, no sound again, but you'll see how much the bullets effect gameplay.

Hell....I was playing on recruit and I died a few times. Mainly because I saw that grenade icon and I thought it meant there was a grenade for me to pick up...and then BOOM!

Played this last night and was quite impressed. The graphics are insanely good and run very well. I was playing at 1680x1050 with max settings possible and it was running awesome. Now why can't I run Company of Heroes at these settings without some pretty noticeable lag.....

Played the demo through like 5 times already. Wow the hardest skill level is pretty challenging. I got all the way to the last fight where you have to protect the tank...Either I stay alive and the tank dies, or I take two steps and get shot in the face!

I totally agree with fastredpony.. this game is awesome. O lol I almost forgot anyone get killed by an exploding car? Nice touch to the game i say.

I guess im just a sucker for realistic games. No ice aliens and Nano suits! Dont crap yourselves crysis fans.. we all know that game is next-gen and sweet so i'll prob buy it anyhow :)

Awesome game, probably the best FPS I have played to date. Very intense action, awesome graphics, accurate ballistics, WOW! There is a decent amount of interaction with the environment; crates moving, watermelons bursting, glass breaking, cars exploding, tires poping, debris flying, wood splintering, etc. Can't wait to try the MP. BTW, it is very well optimized, it plays very smooth even on my crappy 2+ year old Processor.

Make sure to install the Direct X included with the demo. I couldnt run it at first and then had to uninstall/reinstall.

I don't think that was a bug. I have seen them duck behind cover and hold their gun over the cover to shoot blind. You may have seen that, and if you were looking up at it you may not have been able to see the gun.

No, the guns that spam shoot from behind the wooden walls are there to keep the action up and add to the atmosphere.

The hardest difficulty is impossible ! I get killed as soon as I stand up. I got to the part where I have to kill the Anti Air but cant get further :(

I can get to the end at the hardest setting, but couldn't stop dying right after the anti air part. I only got to play for a bit, so I'm sure I will get it later. I've probably plaied through it 20 times by now. I'm just in awe of it.

After protecting the tank, run to the left side, hug the building and proceed into the next building. Go out on the left door (palm tree) and... snipe the RPG guys.

Snipe everyone you can through the walls when you can see the AA gun.

Plant the C4, then it saves. Now on to the hard part...

Snipe the 10 (Ok more like 20) or so people with RPG from the building. Then make a mad dash for the helicopter beacon hoping you don't get sniped. (Alternatively you can kill all of the snipers on the building, but doing this everytime takes too long) Kill the snipers on the roof.

Plant the beacon, then wait it out behind the bus or other cover!

Wow this was intense! At first I couldn't tell WTF was going on there's just so much chaos. But after a few minutes I kind of got the hang of it. I had some trouble protecting the tank and couldn't find the place where to put the signal for air support at the the end. But I found it eventually.

I didn't really play with the settings but the gfx seem pretty good. The action is non-stop and I really like the feel of the controls, except I couldn't toggle the crouch? I had to sprint in order to stop crouching, otherwise the weapon controls and general feel was really good.

I am not sure if I can handle hours and hours of this kind of non-stop chaos but I liked this demo and will probably pick up the game when it comes down in price a bit. BTW it's my first COD experience. I think I liked this better than the MOHA demo.

The weapons "feel" great in this game. Much more realistic than Quake Wars. Less arcade-like. This game definitely has good potential if the developers support it and squash cheating... unlike COD2 which was a PIECE OF @#$%.

Overall not bad...I don't like the fact that I can't switch my rate of fire on my weapons, and I wish there was a cover system similar to rb6v.

I would be willing to bet that the final version will have fire rate adjustments. As real as they are trying to make it I can't see them leaving it out. I'm not so sure about the cover system.

Reality needs some cover... I disliked firing two shots occasionally when zoomed in with e M4. Even if they are all very very accurate clusters.

Then again you have to take into consideration that they made the auto fine sensitive enough that firing just one shot is as easy as going full auto. I agree that a select fire switch would be nice, but I'm not really going to complain too much about it.

Oh my gosh that was a rush, lol. Amazing is all i have to say, definitely cant wait for this to come out. And then for Christmas ill get a new proc and card to max it. :D

Been playing the COD4 multiplayer beta: I can't imagine playing this on anything other than Xbox Live now.

Sure you have headphones and Xfire on PC... but you can't switch to street fighter 2 after a match and invite your whole party to play against you.

BTW: COD4 has the best multiplayer since UT2004

I just finished playing it last night, man game is sick.
Ran flawless at 1400X900, since thats what my desktop resolution is at.
I can go higher but everything gets to small l0l
