OK...I know i have already posted a message about this before....but i haven't fixed my prob....actually i found out that it got worse...Heres the problem....I bought my floppy when i built my computer....I installed it....i got the light...i put a good disk in....clicked the icon....then....the message...please insert disk into floppy drive....or along those lines...anyways...I played with all the connections...reset the CMOS....tried the BIOS.....tried letting windows re detect it......tried flipping cables....etc......NOW...the part that is worse...I tried my old floppy in my compter, and it says the same thing....ok..i figured...maybe it just doesn't work anymore....I tried them both in my brothers computer...they still give me the error.....and now the really bad part.....i decided to take my bros floppy out, and trying it in mine.......it worked in his computer like 10 minutes before...when i put it in....same prob....so i said screw it.....i put it back in his computer....tried it....and now it doesn't work in his computer either...what the hell is going on...the light still works...and windows still detects them....but i think that my motherboard is murdering floppy drives......i dont know how...but that all i can figure......how can i fix the drives, and get them to work in my computer.......cuz....my brother is pretty ****ed.....well anyways....i would really like some help...thanx alot....

This is one WEIRD problem!

Hmmmmmmm.................it could very well be your mobo that is murdering those drives....does it happed with CD-ROM's?

The first thing that came to mind when I read this was that the mobo was frying the Floppies with a surge of power........what mobo do you have?

You have tried different floppy drives but have you tried different cables?

If you have then replace the motherboard.

Have you changed anything with your Psu?
Or tried using a differant connector for the Fdd?

I've tried three different cables...and I have a Gigabyte GA 7DX mobo.....I'd rather it be the motherboard though, cuz its one of the few things that I still have the receipt for.....anymore suggestions before I send er back would be greatly appreciated...Thanx alot....

Though your brother may be upset, that is the best test. It sounds like the floppy drive controller is bad.

I'd try to return the mobo.
