Can you give me some pros and cons for the radeon 8500? How are the drivers?

Pros:

It has better image quality in 2d stuff
It is cheaper than Geforce 3
Cons:
Its drivers suck.
Questionable quality in 3d stuff.

he said it was faster than the Geforce3, never said nything bout the Ti500...the Ti500 is marginally faster and at least 40$ more expensive...unless you get ripped off on the 8500.....or get a questionable brand name Ti500....

i've seen some benchmarks showing the 8500 over the ti500 and some showing the ti500 over the 8500. six in one half dozen the other as far as performance. i'm happy with the newest driver release and havn't had a single problem that wasn't one of my own stupid mistakes. i really don't think the drivers "suck" as bad as everyone else seems to think. they've come a long way in a relatively short time and i think the next release (if they keep improving like they have been) will push the card up to the top performers notch unquestionably.

cons....... ummmmm.
well. the 2d performance isn't that great. it's beaten in that area by the 7500 for sure. hmmm.. if i think of anything else i'll let you know but i've got no complaints as of yet:)

I really like this card. It's fast, stable and the gfx look's very good.
And I don't think the driver issues are as bad as many people say they are. Just get the newest driver, and you will be fine.

It ius the card to have , card for now and for the future of newer games to come.

It is fast has great dvd playback, heard the 2D is okay but I would be surprised why it would not be as good as all the other cards ATI makes which have great 2D.

Great dvd support. The driver issue has become minor from what I have read from most owners. This will only get better with the next release.

If ya got the cash I would buy one or I would gladly settle for a 7500, I am very happy with mine. It ain't a 8500 but it is not slow either!!

My statements are based on reviews I have read and testimonials of others that own the 8500. I would say that most that own it are very happy.

I think I would be happier with a Asus V8200 T5 Deluxe, imagine watching sterographic porn!

Signature is "your rig" showing what you have as a setup, it follows your post at the bottom. Go to edit profile to add one.

The Asus V8200 imho is overpriced as all the Ti500's are. Get a 8500DV if you need the video in/out capabilities. ATI is better in that arena imo.

if you really want to watch stereographic porn then get a 7500 its VIVO capapbilities are unsurpassed, as are the 8500DVs much better than the ASUS and the DV is even cheaper...
