Ram and the slots... Question

OK I've heard that you should be putting your ram from slot 1 and stuff.

Although which one is slot one.

Is it like from left to right because as of right now I have my memory in the middle and right one and the left one is left open.

Most boards slot 1 is the closest one to the cpu.
Your manual should have them labeled

DO look at your manual cause slot 1 on my board is actually the farthest away from the processor.
