What would you guys get mb/cpu/MeM combo for the ultimate game rig? I currently have a e6600 with p5b delux. I am looking at giving that to my son and upgrading my PC with new MB/CPU/MeM. Money not being an issue what would you all buy?

well with january around the corner, the new 45nm dual and quads i would wait for those with either a p35/x38 board with ddr3 ram. thats just imo ddr3 is looking really sweet since the timings dont affect it like on ddr2. still cost for ddr3 is high but you asked about the ultimate gaming upgrade. as well with the EOY coming up NV has new cards coming as well as ati so either a CF or SLI would be have to be there. currently X38 is cf and for sli you need to run a 680I motherboard, vista-64 with 4gigs of ram. vista-64 only cause of DX10 for some current games like bioshock and some coming out soon, crysis...

I would love to wait but not sure if I can wait that long. So if it had to be now what would it be.

Q6600 oced to either 333 or 400fsb with 8800U(sli),EVGA NV680I, 850watt+ psu. your choice of computer case 4gigs for ddr2 ram ddr2-800 or higher ram, vista 64bit. your choice of Harddrives but look at the Seagate 7200.10's or the new 1TB 7200.11 drive.

8800 GTX or Ultra if you have the bucks to spend

good thing about the Q6600 g0 has a 9x multiplier... the new quads, the highest one only has an 8.5, and 8. not that big a difference, but the price on the quads will be a lot cheaper, they have depreciated so they are at a good price to buy. Go with the q6600..
Among the Q6600 and DDR3, I'd go with 2 8800 Ultra's in SLI, and since money is no object, TEC/water on both 8800's, Phase Change on the Q.

i think thats a bit extreme, considering he want the ultimate gaming machine, not the ultimate benching machine.. if anything i would water cool the who rig on 2 loops, BIP3 for Q6600 and another BIP3 for the 8800U(SLI).
