I know this has been asked before... I want to build a watercooling setup... and have many questions:D
1: What kind of pump should I get? (eg: GPH, fittings, etc...)
2: Waterblock?(I'm thinking about building my own... I have links showing different design layouts... but I'm a little iffy on that one)
3: Radiator? (ummmmmmmm):eh?:
More questions will come with the answers;)
Oh and most important is the fact that I'm broke.... I figured I start with the pump and tubbing then the radiator.... then the block:D
I built my own... so i will tell you what i did.... first off this (http://www.overclockers.com/tips505) help me alot.
1. I use the same pump and resivor as him but i don't have a home depot by me so i went to menards for the reservoir.
2. I chose the BEcooling block which has those little ridges on the wall which makes the water flow through harder and grab a little more heat.
3. it took me a little while but i found a junkyard that had alot of heater core and i got 1 for $10. But i got 2 and i have no use for the other one and i already put 2 3/8 fitting in it. if you want ill send it to you if you pay shipping.
Good luck

Would I be better off buying a waterblock... I have a slot 1 processor... if so where would I find one?

Here's some aluminum blocks still available. they have holes for bolts so mounting isn't a problem. Check for tubing size...you may be limited, but you can change them easily enough.
I know aluminum has a bad rap, but it's cheap, it's available, and you can use a cheaper heatercore.
As for a great pump at a good price, Danner Supreme 250gph minimum. They'll take either 1/2 or 3/8 water lines. www.petsmart.com/fish/shopping/water%5Fpumps/products/product%5F770.shtml here you'll find a decent price, and they package well for shipping.
These pumps are inline, to save cash, you can get a smaller one and put it in a reservior. However, anything smaller than the 250 cannot live outside of a res as an in-line pump.
Get 1/2 inch hose and fittings. I wish I had to begin with, now I've gotta convert everything to expand...that means starting all over with sodering fittings on the rad, taking everything apart. You get the idea. Just go half inch and don't look back.
Have a go, and come on back with any questions.

most important is that you wait on watercooling then because it's real expensive if you want it to work well at all. otherwise you'll be buying substandard stuff that cools just as well as good aircooling. only advantage you'd get out of it is noise reduction. save up about a ben franklin and then look for what you need to start it up. if it was me all over again, i'd wait till i had at least two franklins before i started.

Not necessarily, I'm looking to TRY to complete mine for a Jackson. That may be pushing it, but at most (christ, been a long time since I've had a $50, who the hell is on one?). Of course I'm making my own block and using a bong... so all I need is a pump.
If you look around the tips page here at oc.com you can find everything you need to build both a bong and a waterblock. Assuming you have some meager skills and abilities.
look here...
http://www.overclockers.com/articles389/index06.asp
for info on the cheapest bong (I think) and the rest of the article deals with other bongs.
and here...

for waterblock design. (I myself will be using something more advanced, but have more and better tools at my disposa, I assume most of you don't have a CNC laying around)
::edit::
The other cheap solution: A sunny d waterblock. Believe there's a thread about it somewhere here... look for direct die...

looks to me thats heater cores are the way to go, and for tubing, any pump 250gph and over, needs 1/2 inch, 3/8 is a little too restrictive. I have a Marineland 1140 (300gph) pump i bought at petsmart for $30, it pumps a lot of water with 1/2 inch tuning on it. 3/8 was ok, it just moved slower. Now, if you want a bong setup, i suggest you get the marineland pump, a good shower head, and 5/8 tubing for max performance, that particular pump with 5/8 tubing moves water almost as fast as a garden hose. 1/2 inch will be ok, but i recommend either 1/2 or 5/8 for bong purposes. At www.overclockers.com , i saw something like a pump rated at 300gph or so, was moving more water than what was rated, and at $30 for that pump, you cant go wrong.

Thanks guys... gonna have to keep this thread for reference... oh and I'm not completely broke... I just can't shell out $150 for a kit... I have to buy everything one at a time... and try to keep it cheap... just try;)

Keep in mind the golden rule though, you get what you pay for (unless you manufacture it yourself)
