Hey guys, my brother just went out and bought an expensive computer on ebay against my advice, and here's the specifications just to help you with as much information as I can give you:

CPU: Dual AMD Athlon FX-74 OC=3.2GHz
GPU: Dual NX8800GTX SLI OC=610MHz core, 2000MHz memory
Motherboard: ASUS L1N64-SLI WS
Cooling: Dual CoolIt Freezone CPU Coolers
Memory: 4GB Corsair XMS2
HD: 160GB 10,000RPM WD Raptor, 4x Samsung Spinpoint 500GB
PSU: 1000watt Cooler Master Real Power Pro RS-A00-EMBA
Case: Cooler Master CM Stacker 830 EVO
Fan/Temp Controller: Cooler Master Musketeer

OK, so what happened is my brother got the computer, it was running fine, the CPUs were idling at 30C, loading at 40C. He noticed that during shipping a few things had come loose, including the Raptor, the DVD drive, and the motherboard mounting plate, so he put them back into place. Next thing he knows, the CPUs start idling at 40C, so he is understandably concerned.

He talks to the guy he bought it from and he advises my brother to use the Musketeer to pump up the juice on the Freezone. Well, my brother went ahead and turned the knob 3-4 rotations to the left for some reason. After that, the computer refused to boot.

I'm thinking that he either burnt out the TECs in the Freezones or he blew out the water pump, since I'm not sure which one of those the Musketeer controls. Either way, the computer won't boot anymore, so I was wondering if you guys had any idea what turning the knob that many times may have done. Sorry I can't be any more specific than I have, I haven't seen the computer myself, but I will tomorrow and can post more information then.

When you try turn it on,

Does it make any beeps?

Do lights come on again at all?

Do any fans run?

Does the PSU fan turn?

What mounting plate?
What did the seller ship it in, a ziplock bag?

Actually, as it turns out, it looks like all the problems he's had were due to an instable overclock. I had imperfect information before, but here's what's really been going on (stupid brother and his terrible typing):

-The computer will boot into Windows properly, but will lock up if anything intensive whatsoever is run
-After it crashes, it will apparently POST, but not boot into Windows
-The seller claims it was working properly before being shipped (which is probably doubtful)

So I'm just going to reset the BIOS and test it at stock settings to make sure it's stable. If it isn't, then we've got real issues. Thanks for your help, guys.
