So bascailly its time to replace the 6200 PCI.
My budget is around 150~180.
What I want to do is purchase this graphics card
eVGA 8600GTS Superclocked (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814130086&CMP=AFC-Techreport&ATT=14-130-086)
and then towards 3 months when I have saved up more money, do the step up program and step up to a 8800GTS or 8800GT etc.
Is that a decent card? Plan to play BF2, Crysis, COD4, and CSS.
*Note used to played on 20~30 FPS*

According to toms hardware:
Best PCI-E Card For ~$120
Radeon X1950 PRO
Best PCI-E Card For ~$200
Radeon X1950XT
I realize they aren't nvidia, but these are best bang for buck. I've always been a nvidia guy too.

yeah, best way to spend money in your pricerange is on an x1950pro or squeeze for the x1950XT
You'll get better performance than the 8600's

And to the people saying 1950XT/PRO I was looking at that, but I do have Vista, and I am looking forward to newer games, and I want to keep the upgrade option. Biascally this is a middle fix, and in 3 months upgrade to something much better.

Then why do you post here? But good try with trying to fight on the itnernet :\.

I guess if you plan to do an eVGA stepup in 3 months, then the 8600 should hold you over. But just don't expect to play those new games at any kind of high settings with the 8600.

WEll my current card is a 6200 PCI LOL! I play crysis beta at 5FPS lol. And my last card was an FX5200! So I am use to playing games l like Battlefield 2 below 25FPS lol.
And I think it should play COD4 pretty good since it only wants a 6800 for now!
And This is like my fourth time directed here, was helped with a motherboard problem so I gave it a shot, and I realize people have bad days lol!

Yeah, it will definitely be a slight upgrade from a 6200 PCI :) I guess with the plans up stepping up in 3 months, the 8600GTS is a good choice.
And as for the spammer, I think that their account has deifnitely either been hijacked or they are drunk out of their mind or something  Either way, they should most certainly be banned soon enough, they have been posting this way for a little while now in various posts so they are begging for a ban. Literally actually (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=531118)

Sounds like the 8600GTS is the best to hold me over for 3 months and then upgrade!

yeah, i wouldn't hold on to it as a long term solution (at least not if you do a decent amount of gaming). But for a short term hold over, it'll be fine.

Anything is better than a 6200 PCI lol. I plan to upgrade within 3 months I just want something that can play games stably.

hopefully, within 3 months 9800 nvidia cards (or whatever they will call them) will be out and that will lower the price of the current cards.

Yeah, like I said, since you will be upgrading with the stepup program it's a good choice. If you were NOT going to do the step up, then you would be better off with an x1950XT. But since you are planning to, I think it's a good way to go!

Alrighty, the only thing that is possibly holding me back is the supposed "nvidia" card with the release of Crysis. It is supposedly going to be the 8800GT but it would be like 200 dollars, which at that point might fork over another 50 to get an 8800GTS.
Looks like im going with the 8600GTS!

After finding that the step up program works like this
MSRP-the retail you payed=difference I figured it wasnt a good decision, so I am waiting untill the end of October, and then hopefully the 8800GTS will be down in price un poco.

Seems as if the 256 MB GT will be 180 and the 512 MB GT will be 220.

I knew that the card you wanted you found the MSRP price, and I also thought you subtract the MSRP price of your card on their site.
Luckily someone saved me.
So Its either a 2900pro, 8800GTS, or 8800GT

If you are only going to keep it for 3 months why not stay pretty cheap and grab the $76 - X1650 GT? or the 7600 GT if you want nvidia?

I thought I was going to do the ste up program. But I decided its just better to wait it out and wait for 8800GT or GTS or 2900PRO

If I were you I would save up untill you have enough money to purchase an 8800GTS 320mb card. I just got one and I have to say the performance on resolutions of 1280x1024 or lesss is amazing! You should be able to find on in the $270+ range.
If you do want to use the step-up program then purchase an 8600GTS and then step up to want you can afford at the end of your 3 months.
Also remeber that a 8800GTS 320mb card might not be enough to push Crysis to its full potential (I am just guessing on this I have not played the *Edit Beta), So just keep that in mind.

I would hope you haven't played the demo, it's not even out yet :P
On the beta, I've heard of people getting very low fps on medium with 8800 GTX's and others getting great fps on high with an 8800 GTS, now granted it is a beta, however the GTS's do seem to hold up fairly well in Crysis. You might not be able to play it completly maxed out, but you should get fairly close.

Well I have read rumours that the 8800GTS 320mb is going to be stop being made when the 8800GT comes out, and then they 640Mb GTS gets more stream processors so their would be a larger gap in between.
I was getting the 8600GTS but I wouldn't save any money, and I am just saving my money for another month or so for the 8800GT!

Yea actually looking at your price range, and the fact that you 8800gts 320mb will be discontinued, a 8800GT 512mb would be the card to get. However you should be able to pick up a used 8800gts 320mb too for a good price.

What I kind of want to do, is wait for the 8800GT gets released, see how it compares to 8800GTS, and if it performs on par or slighty better or worse, and the 8800GTS 320mb drops down in price huge then I might get the 8800GTS. but I wanan see benchmarks and actually specs not rumours.
Also I played Crysis beta with 5FPS lulz
