ok, i've seen this b4 at school. I've f'd roudn with it b4. and recently i received a messedup monitor so the guy sent me another for nothing, and its not that messed up so i figrued hey why not hook em both up. so i decided to and now i got a prob. duno how. from what i remember u just go to display properties and settings and its in there some where. And to iliminate the obvious reasons i added this info:
geforce 3 (i'd assume that it can handle dual monitors)
19" (both) one a g400 trinitron, the other 400ps trinitron.
the g400 has the plug on the back for the dual monitor dealy
windows me
umm, they both work! :)
uh. thats bout all i can think of now for info to trouble shoot.
so plz help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh and i updated the drivers for nvidia bout an hour ago, and nothing. so i duno!
what do i do!!!!
Well...I would think if you want two monitors displaying the same stuff, a splitter would be in order. to display two different things, I would think a video card with two monitor plugs or two video cards would be in order. Never done it myself, but I would think that's what you need.
If you've got the moola, go get yourself another cheap video card, perhaps a geforce2mx or regular geforce. I know win98 and win2k both support this.

no no no no
i dont want to post the same stuff.. i mean ok
leme explainn this
there connected, ( its used for like video ****) so like if i move the mouse to the left side of the screen it doesn't stop it keeps going to the left to the other monitor, and you can put screens over there and do major mulit tasking! thats all, and i dun know how

Nvidia (not sure about all...but most) cards don't support simultaneous dual monitor support... that's one thing ATI has over Nvidia... if your into that.;)

Yep, i agree with Rainmaqer most Geforce3s do not come standard with dual monitor they expect you to pay even more for it...
Well does your video card support dual monitors? Knowing its Nvidia, mos the time, no. But radeon, yes. If you have an AGP Video card right now and want dual display, you need to get a PCI video card, and hook that sucker up. If you have your AGP to one monitor and PCI to another, then you can use dual display (you'd go under display settings and enable it). Then all should work properly.

I have a Matrox Millenium G450, it does do what you're looking for.
Basically, it has two complete video headers (monitor plugins) on the back of the computer.
I can run 2 monitors, 2 flat panels, or 2 televisions in any combination and with individual pixel counts. Through software settings, I have the option of the Dual screen as you described, DVD max which puts any video of any size on my monitor out to the tv in full screen mode, and Clone mode which basically makes for two identical displays.
It comes with an adapter to use s-video or rca to the tv/vcr.
Now the downside. Mine is only available with 32meg DDR, and it sucks at 3D. I don't game, so I don't miss it. There is a G550 model out now, but I haven't looked to see what improvements came with it.
Happy shopping!
*edit* it only cost $132, that's not bad at all for what ya get!
your GF3 does not support 2 monitors. To use the second screen, just install ANY kind of second video card in addition to the GF3- the dual-monitor options will then show up in your display control panel. The system will treat it like one big screen- the mouse will go from 1 screen to the other.
The dual plugs on the monitor are so you can switch one screen between either 2 video cards or 2 computers. Back in the Voodoo2 pass-thru days, I used the monitor's second plug for the V2 to avoid loss of image quality.:D
Just out of curiosity I have a Cardex GeForce 2 MX with dual monitor support and I was wondering where to go to set it up? I have win98.
I think you set that up in the advanced display settings area. But I haven't used one of those in a long time so I am probably wrong:)

LOL something a Nivida can't do....Well how I do mine I have 2 Ati's a onboard Rage Pro and a Radeon....If I want to have 2 monitors all I have to do is just turn on the other one then I got 2 screens! heheh it's cool you can move stuff to the other screen when it gets in the way.....But the annyoing thing is when you take a screen shot it also takes a screen shot of whats on the other monitor as well.
I have onboard ati rage video and a geforce 3 .. Are you saying i can use both to get dual monitor support?

You could if you want...thats if they will work togeather...Some wont...
Out of curosity, would a Voodoo3 PCI have problems with my Radeon AGP? last time I tried 2 Voodoo3 PCI's they didnt want to run dual monitors....kept getting errors in WINDOWS....
I've heard that if your Windows install is not so fresh, or has errors, dual monitor can cause problems. But I don't think that tehre is anything inherently unstable about dual screens.
I've run dual with a V3 PCI and Intel integrated video, with a V3 AGP and a V3 PCI, and with a V3 PCI and GF2 AGP. All of em worked fine. I even keep a crappy no-brand 8 meg PCI 2D card around just for running the 2nd screen if I want to.
