View Full Version : Cheap EATX cases on Ebay Supermicro SC750
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=sc750&category0=
It's a supermicro sc750-s full tower, which is a somewhat cheaper production version of the old addtronics server cases (no drive rails, no slide out motherboard tray, slightly rougher finish). The butterfly panels are still there, however, and the case is sturdy as hell (I can sit on mine). They have also been updated to modern cooling standards, with 1x120mm and 1x90mm in the back (included) and 3x80mm in front (I easily modded mine to accept 3x90mms). It also comes with an old 300w fortron (12v 15A max). Normally I wouldn't plug ebay sellers, but I'm really loving this case. It's a great choice if you want a cheap and sturdy case for a server board, and doubly great if you dig the old beige box aesthetics.
Right now this seller's got half a dozen of these babies up, and very few people are bidding on them, so you can easily get them for 60 dollars or less, shipping included.
P.S. The included 120x38 because it spins like a tornado, so if you get it you should look into a 7v mod.
I got one of these a few mos ago on ebay for $40 shipped. It is a decent case. I personally wouldn't pay $90 for it though.

These are going for about $53, since no one's bidding on them.

How often do you even shop at newegg? Shipping on cases ranges from $15-23, depending on how heavy the darn thing weighs. Sheesh, instead of doing a thread crap try and find a $50 shipped case that takes a 12x13 EATX, with a 12cm fan, no less. For me it was a choice between this and a $150 stacker.

All im saying is 30 dollars shipping is way over priced and on the egg shipping on their cases is far less. No need to crap on my head sir. The case looks nice, just not 50 dollars shipped nice.

Strange. It tells me the shipping on those things is $23.29, and that's exactly what I paid for mine. Do you live out west or something? I know that this seller's in NJ, so shipping anywhere to the east coast is relatively cheap.

Shipping to Texas is $39.38.... I am not really looking for such a case, but I figured I would include this information.

It's the same for shipping to Louisiana too. I bet that case weighs 25-30 pounds at least though. That's a lot of steel there.

According to Addtronics, the old case that this SM case is based on weighs 38 pounds. This thing might be slightly lighter since it lacks a mobo tray and drive rails, but probably not by much.

I guess the old-school servers needed a lot more mobo airflow because that seems like an awful waste of space in front of the mobo area. If there were 3.5" bays all the way from the 5.25" to the floor I'd be really tempted. As it is you can get the same storage in a mid-tower these days :-/ I suppose it would run a bit hotter overall though. It certainly has the beige-box retro look going on though :D

Dont matter.. they pulled bids...
I'm pretty annoyed that guy pulled these. I had a bid on one and it was pulled right before the 12 hour mark. I was all geared up for one. How much can he expect to get for a dated case?
wth? damn, I'm sorry, guys.
Apparently what happened was that because these cases were relisted without bids for so long, the guy had sold them locally. Sorry.
