I am about to drop some cash on a new mobo and athlon xp.
I am looking for a good value agp4x video card, under $100.
I have found a geoforce 2 mx400 64mb for $75
But the VISIONTEK Xtasy 5632 GEFORCE2 GTS-V 4X/2X 32MB AGP is only $65

the memory is half of the mx400?????

I really want to get the best bang for my buck, I am just now starting to "game" with my son so all of this video hoopla is new to me.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, if I need to look into something totally differnet I will.

No pro here but I keep up with nvidia cards.

I would pick the Geforce 2 gts out of those two choices.

You can get a gainward Geforce 2 ti 64mb card for under $100 that would be my choice for under $100.

Look at www.pricewatch.com

You can't go wrong with the Geforce2 mx400 64 mb card. It is a best buy for the money . Make sure the one you get has a fan on the chip. Ask the vendor that specific question before you buy. They are out there for about 60 to 70 bucks. It is very overclockable and the best drivers I have found are the 12.90's or the 14.60's . I have that card in one of my machines and I am very happy with it .

get a radeon 7500 from www.newegg.com for about $108. I have read really good reviews for it and plan on getting one at christmas.

The confusing price difference is because of the type of memory. Look closely at the specs, some are DDR(double data rate) and some are cheaper SDR(single data rate) I will not tell you SDR is bad and not what you want. I will say the DDR is faster and more expensive.

I just bought a $42 mx200 with 32MB SDR, it was an Abit Siluro from bunta.com for gandma's new 'puter.
