So if my e6600 is already lapped, and my D-Tek Fuzion waterblock already has a mirror finish, is it a good idea to take some sand paper to it? Or is the point of lapping just to minimize the microscopic fissures?

if it were not making good contact because of being concave or convex you would see better results. but it's doubtful the D-tek block has any problems.

The point of lapping is to flaten the surface of the block.

That's what I thought. Thanks guys.

DO NOT LAP THE FUZION! The fuzion is slightly convex which helps performance on IHS cpu's. If you remove this element you would hurt performance.

Yes please guys, do not lap it!

The only option is to lap both the block and the CPU, but you would gain little, if anything
