Just like I stated above. What is the best cpu fan out right now?

Obviously the best depends upon requirements, such as if noise is a consideration then the delta does not count, so when making a statement such as this what considerations should we take and what size ?

sorry, forgot. 1 for socket a, size doest matter, noice doent matter, price doesnt matter.
are you asking about just the fans, or the whole heatsink/fan assembly?
If you're just asking for fans, I swapped my 60mm Delta screamer for an 80mm Sunon on my FOP38, and the Sunon was much quieter, and gave me the same temps.
If you're looking for the whole heatsink fan setup, that's all up to what processor you're putting under it. I have a FOP38 on my Duron 800 that usually runs less than 40*C under load. I've never got it hotter than that. Too bad my mobo is crap for overclocking.
I also have a Milennium Thermal Glaciator II on the way. I should get it this weekend. I've heard good things about the Glaciator, and I have a 1.4 birdy I'm going to put under it.

I keep pulling this out of an old post I made. But for whats out theyre right now. I still feel the same about these HSK. Heres my old post. Basically its the Alpha Pal8045 and Swiftec MCX462
I by no means am an Expert. But Ive asked NUMBEROUS questions on heatsinks. And Ive spend a good..... 99.94837% of my workday on the computer and on the forums since theyre chocked full of such good wholesome Overclocking and cooling goodlieness. Ive picked up a couple comments on HSK's so I figured id pass them on
Top Performers seem to be:
-Swiftec MCX462 (70 bucks with a delta) and they have been redisigned to fit all (Umm.. maybe) Mb's that fit AMD Standard specs.
-Alpha Pal8045 with a Delta (60 Bucks) Is also pretty darn good (some people say better than the swiftec) and its around the very good (but pricy) area of performers. You should check the compatability list though. It doesnt fit all boards
-Milenium Glacier 2 Is the redisgned model of the 1 (which was decent) in addition is only 35 dollars (5 dollars more than the AVG cost of the orb) I belive Mr.B uses this on one of his systems and it works well for him. Most people I talk to say that they get superior performance out of theirs. But like the previous 2 you have to make sure it fits your mb. Won't fit mine cause I have a capicitor too close to the socket.
-SK6 (Thermalright) is also supposed to be one of the fairly good-top performers. it is supposed to be ALL COPPER, According to the NewEgg website, I know people have argued about this, so im just stating what another website says. This is a heatsink with many many fins that are soldered to the Copper plate (maybe thats why they argue not all copper,, dunno) and you can slap your own can on top or get it bundled with a delta I belive (depends where you get it) And Ive seen very many satisfied people's with this. To my knollege (yes i know i need spell check) it should be fairly universal to all Mb's.
Blah!
Dragon Orb 3 (Thermaltake) Global win CAK38 and CakII38 (Global Win).
Ive had people argue over these. I have a Dragon orb 3. (untill I can get 70 bucks for the swiftec) and my roomate has the screaming Cak38 with Delta. He SWEARS its great, I have heard other people say diffrent. He has a 1ghz with virtually no cooling (Come on, 1 panaflo 80mm shouldent even count) and he stays around 45C which isint good, but not too bad.
I have a 1.2 Athlon and the Dragon orb. I think I run hot (My temps should be on my Sig, unless i dident put it in theyre right) But I have lapped my HSK with 2000 Grit sandpaper, it is now glass, and I use Artic Silver II. as well as having a LOT of airpower running through my case. And you see where my temps are. So while im not super dissatisfied with my HSF, I think theyre are better. Like I had stated before. If my MB could of handled it I would of gotten the Glacier II (But I couldent, plus I was being cheap)
I'm just offering information so please nobody yell at me. Unless im utterly wrong. Then you can yell and kick at me, But no high heels please. Combat boots A'ok however.

If you want THE BEST and don't care about $ or noise there is only one HSF, the Swiftech MCX462 with an 80mm 80CFM delta fan. Nothing better on air.

While noise is not important, I believe that the Glaciator II from millennium thermal is the best heatsink fan combination currently available for the simple reason that it works through good design rather than using an exceptionally noisey fan such as the delta.

I have had a FOP32, a SK6, an Alpha PAL8045 and a Millemium GlaciatorII on my TBird 1 GHz at some point. I'm currently running the GlacII. I've found that I get similar temps from all of them, or at least within the margin of error of the CPU socket thermistor. The one big difference is noise - the loudest, easily, was the SK6, because I had the YS Tech 40 CFM fan on there. The Alpha was next loudest - I have the Delta 68 CFM fan for it. It was quieter, but not quite as high performing with a Delta 44 CFM on it. The quietest, thus far, has been the Millenium glaciatorII. The only noise I hear anymore is from all the other fans in my case (11 of them other than the CPU fan). I'm sure I would be able to hear it if I didn't have so many fans in my case, but anyway. I'd say at this point you can't go wrong with an Alpha 8045, Swifty MCX462(very similar design to the Alpha), SK6 or the Millenium.

Well here is what I'd say... in the order of.
Swiftech MCX462
Alpha PAL 8045
Millennium Glaciator
ThermalRight SK6
Although I'd get the glaciator since it is very cheap 20 bux and from others its maybe 1-2 degree difference :) Big Whoop!

Hi iggybaseball,
The best HeatSink for me are the ThermalRight SK6, with a Delta38 or better with a stronger Delta50Cfm (tollarable only @7v), a Millenium Glaciator II, an Alpha Pal8045 or a Swiftech MCX462, but for the last two HS you have to check the compatibility with your Mobo, sometimes there's not enough room around the slotket.
I hope it helps you ;)
