I have a couple fans that use clips to attach to chips in my pc. i hear that AS alumina is good paste/glue for cooling chips and keeping fans attached to the chips. now..If my fans have clips, i don't need glue...so i can just use ASII, correct? (i don't really feel like buying MORE stuff right now)

Arctic Alumina Thermal Compound will not work. Arctic Alumina Thermal Adhesive is what should be used to attatch a HS to a chip.

Unless its a CPU or GPU. Always mix 1/3 Compound also.

I assume you mean heatsinks and not just fans. If your heatsinks uses clips to mount on the chips, as2 will do fine, but if you have f.x. a Radeon8500 where the heatsink uses some form of epoxy, then arctic alumina thermal adhesive is needed( or another forom for thermal conductive epoxy)

Dont get AS2 on ANY of the board. You could easily short it. Also, KEEP IT AWAY FROM THE RAM.

if you dont want to get any as2 on anything but the core, just use some masking tape to cover the area outside it.
