Ok, this has to be the most random problem i've ever encountered. REcently i've bought a new cpu,all near the top end components. However the problem ive got now is display related. My graphics card is the leadtek geforce4 8800gts and my monitor is chimei 221D, 22inch widescreen.
Not sure if drivers are needed for my lcd but ive upgraded my nvidia vid driver to the latest one: 163.69.
Anyway, the problem is that my screen resolution suddenly 'downgraded' itself. It was working well in the morning, nothing was being downloaded or installed. Got home in the evening, turned on pc and display was at 800x600.
Clearly something wrong here....since in the morning i had the resolution at 1600x something. Heck, ive never used 800x600 in my life and now it appears all of the sudden?
So tried to change it back, and found out the max i cud have was 1020xsomething. Ok, so did some research and found out a new driver for nvidia was out and got the 163.69 version from the nvidia site.
Finsihed downloading and went to device manager to uninstall current driver but screen blacked out. WTf. turned back comp and tried to get into windows but everytime right before i get into the start up screen, the lcd turns itself off and i have to turn it back on. And everytime i turn my lcd back on, it makes the sound that a new usb is plugged in. WTf
But thing is, i got back into my desktop and installed the new driver. Nothing changed. Resolution still stays max at 1020 x something.
Can someone help me with this problem? I want my display back at 1600! Only thing i can think of next is probably spyware? Coz i went into cracks.ms recently, like a week ago.
