I was looking to get a 360, and seen this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Microsoft-Xbox-360-Premium-System-Broken-AS-IS-W-Seal_W0QQitemZ230182374640QQihZ013QQcategoryZ62054 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
pretty cheap, but will M$ really warrant them? without a reciept even?
Really curious, as i could save some serious cash...

Tell me this, why didn't this guy call and then sell the 360 for much closer to its real price?

There's definitely something missing here.....

If this person is so good to his word, why no returns? That right there is a warning sign to me, plus his feedback negatives.

You can get a unit repaired without a proof of purchase, but this unit is a big ripoff.

Things it does not come with:

Controller--$50
Hard Drive-$100
A/V cables-$30+
Power brick-$80
Headset-$30
Box, manuals, etc....

The add is misleading because it says its a Premium system, but then says you only get the console unit and no accesories. i.e. the hard drive, controller, etc...

So for the stuff you'll need to buy that is not included its $290 + the unit and shipping for $135 to total $425 AND IT STILL NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED!

Just buy a new premium for $350 AND you will get HDMI and the upgraded cooling if you look for it OR for a few bucks more get the top of the line unit with a 120 gig HD.

I know its a rip, my question is more about needing a reciept for the repair, as i have seen a few with HDD, cables, psu, and cont. have a BIN of ~$150

the guy either cant bother with repairs, or cant get repairs. and the whole no accessories means he has bought a core or arcade xbox. to replace this one. its a total ripoff unless you are a xbox repairer.

From what I've heard, yes. Absolutly, if the seal is intact.

You better call 1-800-4my-xbox first though and confirm it before investing the money. Tell em you might by a friends dead box and see if there are any stipulations or limitations to getting it repaired.

I don't think MS will be a problem. What might be a problem is what the owner has done with it. e.g. broken the seal, re-applied a seal on a serial numbered box that MS has already refused service on. Who knows.

Quick question for you guys regarding Microsoft's new Xbox 360 warranty. Reading this article HERE (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/resources/warrantyupdate.htm) tells that Microsoft has entended its warranty of the Xbox 360 from 1 year to 3 years.

So my first question is, is everything that is covered under the first year of warranty covered under years two and three? The only reason I ask is because of this quote from the above article:

Microsoft stands behind its products and is taking responsibility to repair or replace any Xbox 360 console that experiences the “three flashing red lights” error message within three years from time of purchase free of charge, including shipping costs.

Reading this statement literaly, I assume that only the "three flashing red lights" error will be covered under warranty for years two and three. So say that I have an issue with my dvd drive within year one, that would be under warranty but not if I experience that same issue under years two and three?

Am I reading this right? Can someone shed some light onto the subject?

Also does this new warranty apply to all Xbox 360 units purchased after the date of above article? Or does it apply to only select models/units?

Just the RRoD, but if you did have a DVD drive problem 13 months after purchase MS has been know to repair things like that for free or at a discount if you are persistant.

The 3 year RRoD warrenty should apply to ALL 360 units and thats why MS sent people refund checks who paid to have their RRoD fixed before the warrenty changes were made.

One can only hope that you don't have to worry about it now and the RRoD issues are a thing of the past with the newer units although, that remains to be seen.

MS charged me shipping on my dead DVD drive 1 week after it was out of warranty, but then 8 months later sent me a refund cheque for the $35 it cost me.

Does MS still offer an extension to the one year warranty (to two years) for $50? That way if anything breaks within the first two years I am 100% covered.
