Just need some advice if possible. I've done a search, but perhaps my search-fu is lacking, but I'm at a loss.

No matter what game I am in... City of Heroes / Unreal Tournament / Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast etc... If the game so happens to crash or what not, my Windows brightness is Super Super Bright and I have to reboot to get it back to normal. I've tried Restoring defaults in the nvidia control panel but it doesn't put my brightness back to normal. It's like it's stuck super bright, and once again I have to reboot the machine.

This has happened to me on every Nvidia card I've owned and on some non Nvidia cards I've had. Granted, rebooting only takes like 10 seconds, but it's a quality of life thing. I run a couple game servers and teamspeak for friends, and it's annoying when I have to shut everything down, and basically kick off everyone who's connected.

Here are my specs..

EDIT: nvm, I am guessing I need to set the game gamma to 100% (Normal) and up my windows gamma to a decent level so I can still see the game properly, but if it crashes, I can just put windows gamma back to 100%.. What a annoyance though. LOL

Intel Core 2 Duo, e6400 @ 3.2ghz (Overclocked)
ASUS P5B-Deluxe Motherboard
2gb DDR2 PC6700 Ram
250gb SATAII HDD
nVidia 8800 GTS (640mb Model) (not Overclocked, system defaults speeds)
Windows XP Home Edition

nVidia Driver: 163.71

Anyway to reset Windows brightness back to normal after a game crash or force close etc.. ?

Nevermind, I found a work around. had to lower brightness to almost completely dark, and use the nvidia control panel to increase gamma so i can restore to default in case game crashes or i have to force close it.
