Downloading.
I just got an email in my inbox stating that I got into the Hellgate: London beta. I entered with my work account, so I've forwarded it to my home account. I'll install it when I get there.
I wonder if there is a difference between the beta client and the demo client.

Oni... only guess between a Demo and Beta... is that yes Demo should have all debugging turned off on it, as well its probably running the latest code for release of the game. The beta could be running a newer patched version of the game, as well might have some other perks to running it getting more content or other benefits. Though the beta could still be running a debug mode so could run slower.
Its a rarity I've seen both a Demo and a Beta running at the same time with a game though, there was 1 beta I was in when a Demo was released but it was a long time ago, and can't remember it but the Beta was better than the demo.

Real shame the demo is offline only, oh well it gives you a good idea of it. Although I'm not sure why they limited it to only 2 classes blademaster/marksman...The beta pretty much was the full game in early stage.

I'm still waiting for my confirmation email after creating my beta account so I'm a little confused.
EDIT: Okay so once you create a beta account and log in, the "Pre Order" button on the main page becomes a "Download Here" button. :) This client is about 4.4GB so...yeah, much different from the singleplayer demo. ;)

The beta is the full game basically with bugs and broken parts, but it's all online and lets you choose any class. I was assuming the demo would be online too but I guess not. I'm still not sure if I want to get this game or not...

Which means after JUST finishing downloading the demo, I now have to download the 4gig beta client.

The game runs maxed out on my rig. The graphics arent that great since its an RPG, most people will be able to max it out.

Its not that great yet. Im hoping the beta will be better.
I think like, everybody got a beta email. I forgot I had entered with multiple email addresses, and I got an invite in every mailbox.

They shouldnt have released an offline demo. It ruins the whole thing. Im sure online is twice as good as this. Might have shot themselves in the foot with this demo.

Ever since getting the demo, ive been working on my marksmen. And i was running around with this cool one handed gun, and i kill a boss, who drops another 1 handed gun, so now i am duel wielding guns!@!!:drool: I use left mouse button to fire left hand gun, and right mouse button to fire right hand gun. I find that pretty impressive. :santa:
Still not bored of this game, i am so getting it.....It knocks world of warcraft out of the park, soooo bad.

It irks me SO bad when people compare every single game to WoW. This game is only like WoW in a few aspects. A better comparison would be to DII, not WoW.

Oh im sorry, WoW is my most favorite game, that i play, so i was just comparing it to my most favorite game, just happening to be WoW. So, maybe my new favorite game shall be Hellgate, when it comes out :)

Well the demo is just insanely bland. The whole area it takes place in is so deserted. It leaves room for promise, but it also takes away what games like this (and D2) strive on. The multiplayer. Thats the selling point, and they pulled it from the demo. It just leaves you with this completely barren 3 (or 4?) "stages" of simple slashing.
I've got the beta extracting now. I'm going to sink my teeth into it tomorrow night.

Beta's pretty fun but way laggier than the demo. And after exiting it, my computer lags like crazy.
The demo is kind of dull. It was easy, no voice acting and lackluster graphics.
I got my beta invite today as well. Yay!

I had no idea that Hellgate London was gold; I was under the assumption that it was still in the alpha stages. I hope its as good as Diablo II was.

It's pretty addicting so far. I love the old Diablo style of loot. I keep killing the same boss over and over to get loot lol.

Although the demo is a little bland I will say that I do like the way the controls feel, really speed up the old rpg.
I just gave the demo a quick spin before work today, I think I finished it with the marksman (not sure if it was truly the end, I just hit a dead end and had to go).
So far it really shows potential, but I was let down by the WASD control feel, it seemed a bit sluggish when changing direction. Though I have to admit this was on a Ati X800 XT so it might not have been entirely the controls.
The graphics look ok, I can't say they're exactly state of the art on my x800 xt, but I'll wait until I can run it on my 8800 GTX rig at max until I make my final judgement.
The gameplay is awesome though, can't wait to hack & shoot my way through later levels, definatly going to get this game early november :)

I get some massive mem leaks too. Whenever I feel like restarting after this, I'm going to install the virtual memory fix for Vista 32 bit that Rainless linked to here:

Other than that I'm really liking it so far and I've just been playing solo.
I played the beta for an hour or so last night.. it hasnt WOWed me yet.
If you took Lineage2/AO/SWG and combined them you get Hellgate pretty much

I've been trudging through these memory leak errors and the game is STILL awesome. I like how it rewards you even faster than Diablo did. (three star Legendary items at lvl 5) Nothing I do feels pointless.
Around lvl 7-8 the challenge starts to set in. I find myself carrying 40~ medium health thingies whenever I go out just in case. I'm a Blademaster btw so a Marksman probably wouldn't have this problem at all.
The destructible elements in the environment that cause splash damage are a really cool touch and pretty useful for when there's 15+ enemies in one room and you're just like "umm...no thanks".
This game is really going to be pretty freaking good once the performance issues are worked out. It's pretty snappy aside from the lag caused by obviously bugged code so it'll still have that pick up and play feel that Diablo did. (Well, on most good rigs.)
Has anyone else run into a problem patching that vmem allocation bug yet?

Hmm, honestly the game feels like a 3d version of Diablo2 to me. I also noticed the sluggish controls, at least on my system. Positives were the sounds and atmosphere. Overall I was kind of let down though, BUT i'll give it another go later on when its complete, just cause the guys from D2 are behind it and everyone that plays pc games knows d2 was a classic.

Can anyone tell me if the npc's get any more interesting? I tried the demo and as soon as the guy I rescued started talking I was turned off by the game. There was was nothing he was saying that was interesting in any way. Such bland dialogue really detracts from what should be a really cool world. Nothing much was really going on.

I played the demo as marksman for about an hour last night, graphics weren't bad but the gameplay was meh. Definitely not as good as I was hoping for, I won't be picking this one up.

Its a FPS/3rd Person depending on your preference MMO
there is a fully playable and decent single player game but it shines when playing online.
Graphics are decent for an MMO nothing spectacular but what can you expect for a mmo?

Ok well that makes more sense. Is it going to be $14 a month? I thought the NPC's sounded like they were MMO...I was looking for some story elements and everyone I talked to wanted me to fetch them something. I guess you have to build up to better weapons but the gun the marksman starts with....geez it's about as exciting to shoot zombies as it would be to spray them with a turkey baster.
pretty much diablo 3, but with mroe sucks tha ndiablo 3 would have lol.... its not very good...
