OK. I have an OEM card with the 3.6 ns SDRAM, and a reading of
3.46 on the Vmem. So I tried the FlashRadeon8500.zip package
and destroyed the BIOS. I booted clean to DOS. Here is what I would get:

Serial ROM
BIOS DeviceID = 0x514c
ASIC DeciceID = 0x514c
Flash Type =ST M25P10

0

From here is just an endless blinking dos cursor and the floppy light stays on. Do you think being on an I820 motherboard might affect this?

Actually this turned out to be the right call. I read that this program writes modifications to RAM before the flash begins. It appears that there is an incompatability with RDRAM or the i820
chipset. At any rate, I moved everything to a BX board and the flash to the retail 275/275 BIOS went flawless. I'now back in business.

3DMark2001 went from 5903 to 6286. My original LE was only clocked at 230/230. If ram chips are 3.6's and Vmem is OK, you should have no problem.
