You will see a huge difference in performance. The G3 Ti200 is a very good card.

What are going to pay cause another though is an OEM Radeon 8500 (250/250) for about $190 that will be faster than a G3 Ti200 and if you get one with fast ram you may be able to flash the bios to retail speed and possibly even get 300/300 out of it.

Also for $107 you can get a Radeon 7500 which are great imho. Mine is retail and does 342/281(mem 562) default is 290/230. Not as fast as a G3 Ti200 but = to and faster than an Ultra even when overclocked and faster than a G2 Ti200. Also costs about $50 to 60 less than a G3 Ti200, and can do TV out at 1024x768.

But if you are deadset on a G3 Ti200 you made a great choice, go with the Leadtek brand if ya can, solid cards.

Thanks you guys. Very much. Is Windows 98lite a good operating system to run it off of?? Will the Geforce 3 work well with 98?

Cisco Kid is right though, because for 30$ more than a Ti200 you can overclock an OEM 8500 far enough that it would crush most any Ti500 out there...hes just trying to present all aspects of the picture...

Huge performance increase to an 8500, you can not even compare the 2 cards the difference will be huge.

I went from a Radeon 64 DDR vivo to a Radeon 7500 and I saw a big improvement and a radeon 64 DDR vivo would beat a MX400 . You do the math.

Even if you went to a 7500 you will see a big improvement, newer technology is flat out faster.

Will the Radeon 8,500 like windows 98 and does it have 64 mb.. And if it does. Is it DDR ram? What is the transfer rate of it??? How many Gb per second?

I have two v5 and I would trade both of them for another G3 200! the v5 is a great card but 32bit color and 4ish x AA at 1600x1200 is so pretty I just walk around in UT. sometimes I forget to fire since I am looking at the walls and the other models.

The 8500 is pretty much the fastest card made right now along with the G3 Ti500. It has 64 DDR ram @ 3.6 ns in retail form. Go to ATIs site for all the specs on the card. Transfer of 2.4 gigatexels second.

It will work fine in 98, but why dont you get onto XP, it is so much more stable. gaming performance in XP is quite good.

here is a link for you to read more on it.

YES,you will see a huge difference ,I have a ti200,which is faster then a regular gf3 ,and they overclock very well.My current 3d mark score is 7928 I think and thats under Win XP ,on win 98 you would probably hit 82-8300.You will see a huge performance difference either way you go.

You may wanna consider a radeon 64 DDR vivo for about $145 US. It is a very overclockable card if you buy it in retail form. Look for the SE model that comes with 5ns ddr ram. Mine would do 245/490 with ramsinks and a lapped blue orb, performance should be on par with a Geforce 2 Ti200 or just a touch behind. But you will get much better 2 D video and DVD playback as well as great vivo.

Go to pricewatch.com check the vendors, many of them have ratings on what they are like.

Cisco kid

I can only suggest some good Canadian ones that you probably do not need.

That's actually a "lie" on 3DFXs' behalf.... the memory is actually divided... 32 meg per chip... comes out to 64 but both chips process the same data from different memory... to sum it up it stores 1 texture twice, one for the first 32 megs and one for the second 32... can't remember where I read that...

I like the geforce 3 ti 200 or 500 better then radion just because its cleaner graphics i think compared to the overclocking yes you can get a little more out of the radion but what is speed without quality...
