Alright guys, I just ordered an XP 1600 & 8KHA+. Then I went on over to dangerden and ordered a maze 2 and a heater core. Then I went to petsmart.com and got a danner supreme 250gph pump ($33 shipped with a coupon from couponcraze.com($10 off), great deal).

The point is... here I go, and I'm going to need some help along the way.

That said, here's my first questions:
1. What kind of sealant do you guys put between the hosing and barbs/elbows/etc. ? or on threaded connectors?

2. will I need some kind of connector to hook hoses to the pump?

the pump will either have 3/8 or 1/2 inch fittings (barbs), use hose clamps on the barbs tightened pretty tight, for threads, use pipe thread tape, it's teflon, wrap tightly around the male threaded end counterclockwise as you were looking at it from the hole end. use elbows where the hoses bend extremely, as they'll crease when the water warms up.

On the pump, you'll need two different hose barbs. The 'barb' side will match whatever size you picked for radiator fittings when you ordered it.
The pump side are 1/2 inch npt (national pipe thread), one female and one male. Yes, npt looks much bigger. Pipe is measured on the inside diameter, pvc on the outside diameter. Here's i pic of my old ones, got some ptfe (teflon) tape and paint on 'em.
