but when i play games the pc crashes and the monitor turns off
i have tried 2 power boxes a 300w 250w and a 200w but nothing changed it still crashed
i am woundering if anyone out there may have had the same troubles,
is it the vid card causing this cause i touch the back of the card and its pretty warm but i dont know how warm is too much

6x mulitplyer
running at 1.7 Vcore
43c idle
+12V is at 11.551
+5v is at 4.919
384mb pc133 RAM
geforce 2 Ti (winfast)
sound blaster live

that idle temp is way too high what heatsink are you using and maek sure it is properly seated on the cpu....im betting thats your problem...if its the intel crap try to replace it....get like a VolcanoII for like 12$ it may not be the best but for a PIII it definately gets the job done...
ummmmmmmmmm
i've had my cpu and heatsink for like a year now and the heatsink came with the cpu soo i'll see whats happening what about the vid card do u know some temps that are good and some that are too high
atm my cpu is running at 57 degrees
i'm doing a test on it so hrmmmmmmmmmm
is 57 too much using fully

yes, anything above 45 is too much, i wouldscrape the thermal pad off the cooler you are using and put some ASII or radio shack thermal compound on there, after used once and disassembled many thermal pds are rendered unusable, this is your problem..
thnx man
cause when i took out my cpu from my old mobo, it was my first time removing a cpu and i had some troubles getting it of and i think i mustof done somefin to the heatsink cause it came off then i just put it back on the cpu and left it i think i must of ****ed up the thing that is between the cpu and heatsink , if i can remember the stuff was white
what ya think?

yeah that sounds right, now stop by radio shack and get yourself some HEatsink Compound then scrape the stuff off the bottom and clean it with nail polish remover then apply a thin layerr of the compound on the cpu and reapply the heatsink...

sounds like that heatsink issue should help you out a lot....
Just wanted to add that I have the same video card as you. I only just set up my new rig, so I'm about to start tweaking and OC'ing the video card. If your interested, keep posting in this thread. So far with this card, I've:
Mods:
Removed stock winfast heatsink and fan, and replaced with lapped Blue Orb using Artic Silver II thermal paste.
Added 4 RadioShack aluminum heatsinks to video memory modules, also using Artic Sliver II.
Overclocking with Win Fox Speed Runner:
from 250/401 to 255/430 1st OC with my CPU Athlon XP 1600+ 1.4 @ 1.472
Will finish testing this morning using 3dMark2000 and 2001. I'll try to get a free screen capture program too, so I can post the results.
cooo thnx man
**** i got smashed lastnight with my mates and i'm still a bit ****ed now writing this lol
yeah cool
i got a score of 6053 in 3d mark 2000
default benchmark heheh
how did ya put the orb and **** on ya vid card like does it help it heaps and is it worth doing that

See we got a few beer drinkers here, liking that. I am interested in seeing what you card does in 3D Mark2K1 after your modifications. I would like to compare scores to my overclocked Radeon 7500. You cpu is faster and you have faster ram so you should post a higher score, I am wondering just how much higher it will be, since it appears my video card overclock is higher. I am gonna see if I can best my 5024 score and will post the link.

Well 5024 is still my best gonna take some tweaking to pull a few more points outa the card.
Used 1480 MHZ = 148fsb @ 10x
128 agp aperture (anyone know if 256 would be better)
fast writes enabled
agp mode 4x

Looking to cpmare to what some of you post with roughly same type of setups.
See signature. This is on sdram at 148 x 10 on a 32 meg card. I don't know that there is a lot left for me but am still working on it. Trying to get to 5,000. I think that the sdram and the 32 meg are not helping any.

My GF3 ti200 scores 5532 at 180/410 with a crystal orb and ramsinks (plan to push it a bit further). I've seen some people in here with some crazy scores like 6K+ at stock. I'm using the 22.80 drivers. Winfast garbage reeked havoc on my system and none of the 21.xx drivers were stable. But, I guess it's not a bad score.
well i ran 3d mark 2000
default and i scored 6053
it was a lucky test i spose
i'm am running 384mb SDRAM pc 133 at cpu 800mhz
with winfast geforce 2 Ti at 250/400
welll i gotta go buy some thermal compund and after i do i will overclock my cpu form 800mhz to about 850 or 833
just to see if it makes much diff
and vid card i will change drivers cause atm i'm using the cd ones i got
i'll post again in a few days and tell ya results
anyone know what is better the internal clock speed or the memory speed
like mine is at 250/400
if i put the 250 down to about 200 or so and put the 400 to about 433 or 450 would it make heaps of diff
what about the temp of the card will it change heaps

FSB/memory speed .the faster the fsb goes the faster everything else will go.

Mine is 6700+ at default,I think yours should be higher, did you turn off v-sync so your minitor did hold you back?

3dmark 2000 and 2001 try to do that anyway

K,
tweaked and ran 3dmark2000: 9316 default test at 1024x768, 16 million colors
Athlon Xp 1600+ @ 1472 (10.5*140)
Leadtek Geforce 2 Ti @ 250/420
will run 3dmark2001 and also turn the settings a little higher tonight. Also, will install detonator 23.11's and see if that improves performance over stock drivers.
GPU doesn't seem to like much increase, but memory does... hoping to hit 255/450+
Aluminum radioshack heatsinks x4 @ $1.59 (US) each
Blue Orb $7 plus sandpaper to lap it
Artic Silver 2

3dmark 2000 is 10289 not really tweaked ,just ran it to see what it would do

I'm starting to twitch reading these posts & thinking about Oc'ing my video card some more. I need a good dose of free MHz and 3d marks for my fix.
Think I'm gonna try this:
FSB 140 --->144
GPU 255 --->257-260
Memory 420--->450+
Can't wait to get home in a couple of hours and test it out...

5698 in 3dmark2k1 default 1024x768, 32bit. FSB 152, 255/520, detonator 23.11's, directx8.1, win2k pro + SP2. Best score so far...
