Are there any good PC games that resemble RISK(the board game)?

Some things I'm looking for:
1) Decent graphics
2) Some sort of complexity(lots of soldier types, paper scissors rocks style)
3) Not Age of Empires or Starcraft RTS stye(i.e. no building buildings/creating soldiers)

My inspiration was a Chinese PC game called The Three Kingdoms 5, but the problem is that it's all in traditional Chinese and I can't read anything (my roommate can translate it for me, but he's not there all the time lol).

Why not just get Risk on the PC?

The closest things to risk are Civilisation 4 and Rise of the Nation (or Rise of Nation or something like that.)

I think the last Risk game was still 98 era wasnt it?

I think there's a game called Hearts of Iron that is similar and was rated well.

There is a Risk II that is pretty cool. It's exactly like the board game and the graphics aren't horrible (They aren't next gen or anything, but they aren't from 1996 either) It came out in 2000 so its been around for a while, but it's really still a good game if you are a Risk fan. Best one I've found.

It has online/LAN multiplayer as well, BTW.

If you want realtime there are many choices. If you want turnbased try Civ 4

Rise of Nations. That's what I was trying to think of.

Yeah, I played a demo for a rise of nations game. It was pretty cool. It's a good RTS.

Civ4 is Risk on steroids. It's way more complex and involved, but they've also tweaked the automation such that you're not micromanaging every aspect of every little thing, thus making later-game turns take an hour+ each :) You can go deep if you want to or just let the workers work and focus on the important stuff.

Hearts of Iron I and II are amazing world war 2 type games played on a risk type board.

Older games would be Europa Universialis, which is more medieval style.

QFT though Hearts of Iron 1 looks very dated now, go for the sequel.

Lol, both look extremely dated but that doesn't mean they aren't fun (quite the contrary). HoI2 is an extremely in depth and immersing strategy game if you ask me.

I also vote for Stratego... I love that game.

Also an old video game for the Turbo Graphics 16 called "Military Madness" was one of the best games I have ever played. (They brought it back for Playstation 1 under the name "Nectaris" and again for computer under "Military Madness")

Check out Military Madness... You can find it to download for free. Stratego also...

Yeah, Civ 4 would be a good choice. I played the heck out of Civ 4 and the expansions, it's a lot of fun.

Rome Total War.

Risk with third person battles! You can't get any better than that. Rome Total War owns all aforementioned games.

That new Warhammer game plays very similar to Risk and is a lot of fun. Also, there is 7 factions in the game that play differently, so it has decent single player replay value and it can be had new for only $20 now. Link to Gamespot review (8.8):

The closest thing I can think of is a little game called DEFCON, which is a turn based world domination game. Biggest difference is instead of cavalry and cannons, you use aircraft carriers and nukes. Tons of fun.

Civilization 4 is so much fun. Especially if you decide to be Hitler and conquer the world.

Yeah...Civ4 rules. Don't forget to grab BTS with it.
HOI2 also kicks major ass. I haven't played it in awhile, though.

If you have a PS2 you can just get Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI. Sadly they only seem to make it to the PC in JP
