Putting together a cascade for my friend Cpt.Planet. The aim is for a strong bencher for current Quads and future Quads. So, two nice Matsush17a rotaries, 3/4 hp each, 13cc, two of my large condensers stacked (though different this time!), a watercooled HX, 10 plate HX, 340 Temprite Oil sep with hand valve and capillary for oil feed, Chilly1 evap with mount, 36" braided flex, normal cutoff for second stage, 1 ton filters, expansion tank, and capillary on both stages.
Watercooled HX is 5ft of 1/4" in 1/2", with female 1/2" threaded ports for change-able barb size.
Some prelim pics of build so far.
Oh and Jake plans on casing this once its done.

First stage brazed up. Dual capillary with 8ft on each line of .031" diameter rapped up nicely ;)

Are you using r507 and r1150?

NoL
10-28-07, 03:10 PM
Yes, with a r290 oil charge on both stages.

How long and what psi are you testing?

Is it me or are these pics on a really slow server? I cant get the first three to load...

250 Psi for 36 hours. Im quite confident in my brazing, never have leaks. Only time was at a flare, but I dont use flares anymore. After a half hour at 250 if its still there, almost gauraunteed no leaks.

Yeah, it is fairly easy to tell is you have a good braze.

OT question -

What do your parents thing about you building this stuff in your basement?

NoL

They requried that I add a ventilating system, and that I pay for all my own stuffs, and am safe in my work, thats all ;)

Looks pretty nice. Seems like you have a couple of complex builds going on right now.

NoL

As always, couple builds as well I'm not willing to share at this time ;)
The R&D side ;)

It is amazing that you can find that much time to do builds and other stuff. You are still in school aren't you?

Yes I am a student, but I dont have a life ;)

You want to see some ice? Starting tuning on Sdumpers 2nd stage of his THREE STAGE CASCADE.
Awesome precharge dontcha think ;) :th_coolio: :signs013:
Gonna love this, checkout the capillary tube wind and the ice. This is with open hand valve for oil return, temps are indeed awesome. This is also uninsulated with quite a bit of r290 in the loop. Also the probes slightly insulated but not perfect, so we'll easily see -100C on pipes here soon unloaded, going to have to get that down to -80C range tho ;)
Enjoy!

I can't help but wonder what a meth addict that steals copper would think if he saw some of the threads in this forum. :p

The units look so much better in person. I'm still kinda in shock that nol is building me such a kick ass unit. Cant wait to see it finished.

NoL
11-24-07, 11:05 PM
You bet. Its a little delayed because of other units on the bench, such as Sdumpers 3 Stager, and we're still waiting on the fans but this is truly going to be one amazing semi compactcascade.

Tuned and shipped to CES for Foxconn and Shamino.
-88C load with 250w and not much time to tune or tweak, quite overcharged I'd say.
Bout time I posted a -100C club shot, only have done like 8 cascades ;)
And heres myself on a bad hair day instapaking up the insides.
